Clary's POV

Only three days have passed since I got shot and today is Ryder's funeral. Luke should be here soon to pick me up. I didn't want my dad to be there and realize how many of my friends are gang members.

Jace hasn't bothered to call me, so he doesn't know that I got shot. But, today is not the day to obsess about how my crush hasn't called me.

Turns out that the Lightwood's live next door to us. Jace, Alec, Izzy. But, I've been holed up in the house since the first night I got here, so I don't think they know that I live here now.

"Clare? You okay?" Now, I stood in front of my full length mirror, staring off into space.

"I'm fine." I turned to Jonathan and sat down on the bed, slipping on my black and gold heels. "Is Luke here yet?" Jon shook his head, coming to sit beside me.

"Are you gonna do anything with your hair?" I laughed slightly, shaking my head at him.

"I wanted to pull the back into a braid type thing, but with my left arm incapacitated and my right covered in a cast, I just couldn't do it." He smiled and gestured towards the door where Maryse stood.

"Maryse, do you know how to do a braid thing to Clary's hair?" She nodded, smiling. "You mind?"

"Of course, I don't mind." She walked in and Jon walked out, leaving me alone in my bedroom with Maryse. "You okay?" She asked.

"Nope." I took a deep breath. "Could you straighten my hair first? Ryder loved it when I'd straighten my hair." She nodded and I sat down at my vanity, staying still as I let her do my hair.

"You two really were best friends, weren't you?" I nodded, sniffling.

"The bestest of friends. He was the kind of best friend that didn't care to see you naked, didn't care to stay up all night watching movies or Netflix, going out for coffee. His mission was always just to keep me happy and safe. I miss him so much." She leaned down and kissed my cheek.

"I know it hurts, but it will get better. You just have to be patient." I sighed deeply and nodded. It didn't take long until she was finished and I smiled at my appearance.

"Thank you for doing my hair for me. I would've done it if I could raise my arm up that high." She laughed and nodded.

"I'm happy to help anytime you need it."

"Clare! Luke's here!" Jon yelled up the stairs and I stood from my chair.

"Good luck, sweetie." I smiled slightly and left the room, Maryse following me down the stairs.

I hugged Luke as soon as I got to the bottom of the stairs. "Hey, angel. Ready to go?" I nodded. "I should have her back by eleven or midnight." He said to my dad, who nodded.

"That's fine. I'll see you tonight, sweetheart." Dad kissed my forehead.

"Okay. Bye, dad, Jon, Maryse." Luke grabbed my hand and I left the house with him. He opened the door to the SUV for me and I got in, buckling myself up while he got into the drivers side.

We drove off in silence, heading to the cemetery. Ryder never wanted to have a showing, he said that he thought it was stupid to gather a bunch of people just to look at your friend or family members dead body.

Though, I had to watch him die.

"Are you alright, angel?" I shook my head as we finally parked on the small road in the cemetery where more cars and Motorcycles were parked and people were gathered in a big group.
