the plane takes off:
"i am one with the universe
i am one with the universe"

i close my eyes and imagine
jittering bolts
and screws
within the
aluminium carapace

one tiny screw
a little too loose -
the left wing
is torn off.

"i am one with the universe
i am one with the universe
even if we fall and die
i will be a flower petal upon
the wind"

the plane lurches
and my innards do too
a spark of fear
sends forward troops,
invading tightrope nerves

i extinguish the candle
with my fingers
knowing that i have spent
7,3 billion years not existing
and i must be very good at it

knowing that trillions of humans
have successfully died
and it musn't be so bad.

imagine a sleep
from which you will never wake up

imagine a sleep
from which you will never wake up

yet i cling onto life
as if it were pyrite anchor
inside a sinking ship
