strawberries and silk

i lie in bed
half awake and half dreaming
imagining your soft skin
pressed against mine
i run my hands along
your smooth stomach
tease your breasts
(a spark of electricity between us)
and work my way up
to your smiling mouth
soft strawberry lips
a devious smile

you say something,
i reply --
it's calm
like a blue period
Picasso,

calm
like the muffled sound
of sloshing water
coming from a
dishwasher,
somewhere

i start with the words
'i wish..'
but you're already gone:
a soft, translucent sail,
drifting away
past subtle silken waves
