You know that feeling you get when everything seems to just crash down at a certain time and it's like old memories and things of that sort just comes rushing back?
That's how I felt right now. Here I was sitting up on the middle of my bed with my hair ruffled, my face disheveled and my chest heaving up and down due to my heart racing so fast.
I had another dream. One of those dreams I dreaded, the ones you can't wait to wake up from, the ones you never want to happen but always finds a way to replay over and over in your head. This wasn't the first time but it was the first one in a long time. You could almost say ,it's a never ending nightmare.
I signed frustratingly and pulled the covers from above my legs. My legs were wobbly but after a few seconds of standing they felt normal again. I walked over to the mirror to take a look at my self.
There were bags underneath my dark brown eyes, my somewhat bushy eyebrows were all scattered in different directions on my dark skin, my medium length black hair was ruffled and sticking up in all directions by now.
I don't know why but my skin felt as if it was tired. My eyes flickered over to the clock on the wall and then to the bed near to mine. My roommate was fast asleep. I didn't want to wake him so I spun around on my heels and walked reluctantly into the bathroom.
I closed the door slightly making sure not to wake Jonah. As soon as it was closed I slipped out of my shorts and my matching blouse each landing on the floor. I grabbed them and threw them into the laundry basket.
Slowly I slipped into the shower turning it on letting the water slide down my body. The water glided down my body sending shivers all over me. The water felt nice but unfortunately I have school so I can't spend the whole day in the bathroom.
Three minutes later I slipped out of the bathroom and into a towel using it to finish drying my body. I stood in front of the bathroom mirror brushing my hair back neatly letting it rest on my shoulders. I fixed my eyebrows and added a touch of lip gloss unto my lips.
I slipped on a pair of blue high waist jeans,a green Hollister shirt and a pair of grey vans. I grabbed my earrings and my watch from a shelf in the bathroom, slipped them on as quick as possible. Suddenly out of nowhere, the door started banging which was my cue to leave.
I opened it rolling my eyes repeatedly to see Jonah standing there impatiently. "Next time you want to take forever in the bathroom at least let me go first" he murmured. Okay I said making sure to lace my voice with sarcasm.
Two days here and he's already being a dick. My school bag was in the corner of my room which I grabbed up while opening my room door. I stomped down the stairs leading into the living room. Everyone else was already down here now.
I flopped down on the couch beside the others. Mrs.Brown along with the other sharing partners were already down here making breakfast for everyone before we all went to school. This morning was either pancakes or cereal.
I wanted neither so I left. At the same time Jonah came outside as well. Looking his usually glummy self or at least what he showed since the past few days. I decided to start up conversation.
"Hey" I muttered
"Hi" he said but before I could utter another word he said to me "look I understand that we're roommates and every single one of us in this house has been through some sort of crap and pain of some sort but, that doesn't mean that we have to be friends or communicate at all."He went on to say that we don't need to be anything other than roommates and unless it's necessary we don't need to communicate. He was right though. Just because were roommates and we live in a foster home doesn't mean we need to be friends. I blew out into the cold air, spun onto my heels and walked all the way to school next to Jonah not saying a word.
