I threw down my bag unto the floor in my room before sighing out loud. Since it was towards the end of June we had end of year exams at our school. Today was only day four of the exams and they lasted for an entire week.
You see I don't have a problem with keeping my grades up or working hard. I'm an excellent student actually but sometimes school's just to frustrating. I don't have terrible study habits but my problem is actually retaining what I've studied.
When I study I just rewrite the notes and then memorize what I've rewritten because:
1) If I rewrite it I'll remember what I've rewritten especially if I already kinda knew it.
2) it's better than carrying a big book around when you can simply have five or six sheets of paper to study from.
3) I just really didn't want to carry a big book around; I needed something portable, easy to access and light. The exams today drained my energy so bad that just sitting here on my bed made my eyes start to flutter because of fatigue. Suddenly there was a faint knock at the door. I had no intention whatsoever of opening it so I glanced over to Jonah's bed but, he wasn't home as yet.
I groaned inwardly and reluctantly got up from the bed trudging my feet towards the door. I grabbed the door handle before opening my tired eyes to look at the person behind the door. In front of me stood a small boy with small brown eyes, thick lashes, black hair and a neatly tailored school uniform standing there. He seemed around the age of five or six or somewhere right in that age range. He looked so adorable.
Just for him I decided to look more lively and look like I actually wanted to answer the door. "Hey, can I help you" I asked gently. "Grandma's calling you" he answered back shyly. Grandma? I questioned myself. " I think you have the wrong door little man my grandma died" I spoke to him. He hesitated as if he wasn't convinced.
In a flash he grabbed my hand but obviously it was way bigger than his so he latched his small hands unto my pointer and middle finger before tugging me gently. I didn't want to see him struggle to pull me so I just let him hold my hand while I followed behind him.
I watched as him little legs went down the stairs one by one still holding unto my hand. When we were at the bottom he tugged again and like before I followed. Soon I was standing in front of the kitchen counter and he released my hand and went away to watch Adventure Time on the TV.
I heard shuffling behind the counter and peered over to be greeted with the back of a person. The person stood up after placing something into the cabinet before standing up. It was just be Ms.Brown. "Oh I see Nick called you already for me" she breathed out. Ooooh I thought to myself. Grandma.
"Yeah he did , he's adorable by the way" I answered. It wasn't hard to believe she was a grandma but it was just surprising seeing as she kept her body looking so young. I mean there wasn't even a wrinkle on her skin and I knew for sure she was a vegetarian.
I should eat more vegetables I thought.
"He sure is, but,he can be quite shy and silent at times" she answered. Now remembering she called me down here I glanced at her before asking "why did you want to see Ms.Brown?""Oh; I nearly forgot" she said rubbing her temple. I heard her mutter something under her breath about old age affecting her and although I wanted to laugh it'd be rude of me and I didn't want her to know that I heard her.
"Please take a seat, your gonna want to take a seat for this one" she assured me. I didn't really have a preference of sitting or standing so I did as instructed. "So what'd you wanna talk about?" I began.
"You remember how I said you mother could be getting out of jail anytime soon" she asked. I nodded signalling her to continue. "Well the authorities got in contact with the court and it was decided that they'd let her leave Jail"
"Mhmm" I said. She continued " She actually gets to leave on one condition though, if she gets bail then she's free to go home but, until then she has to remain in jail." I was curious now so I asked "how much is the bail money?"
