Shout out to @lovinrocks for giving me my creds for coming up with a new cover for #ClaimingDesire 💗
"What?!" I practically fumed at the now bewildered woman in front of me. "I told you I'd keep you updated and I just thought you'd be grateful if I told you"
I can't believe this woman right now. How on earth would I be happy that the devil's other half is being released from jail next week. "Ms.Brown, are you for real right now because I swear if this is a joke it's not fricking funny" I fumed again.
"Sorry Shay just thought you should know" She spoke with caring eyes at me. Caring eyes or not she just ruined my day within five minutes. Well done.
Even from jail the she devil seems to torment my poor soul."one more question" I muttered out still fazed."Anything" she replied blankly at me. "Does she know where I am? I choked out. Honestly I don't want to know if she knows but something just made me ask that question. It's as if my soul was burning at this particular moment and the answer to that question could break me apart more than I already am.
"She doesn't know where you are but there's a chance that she'll seek out your location by other means and tries to get in contact with you." Right now my feelings were bitter sweet but, just more bitter than sweet.
Part of me is somewhat happy that she has no idea of my whereabouts but the larger part of me knows that sooner or later our paths will cross. I just hope its later because I need time and space to figure everything out right now. Just time and space.
By now Ms.Brown was somewhere else and I was just sitting down in the main room staring at the black TV screen while twiddling my thumbs in my lap. I was ready for school an hour ago practically happy to go see my best friend and to do some real catching up but,now all I want more than anything is to just curl up into a ball and lock myself away from the rest of the world.
Life doesn't work that way though so with utmost reluctance I straightened up my posture before getting up to leave the home. I hadn't realized until now that I had been crying and so with my spare hand I used the back to wipe away my stray tear.
The cold hard gold doorknob felt like ice on my extremely hot hands. The nice brisk morning air of Chicago welcomed my face and almost like immediately somehow uplifted my spirits.
It'll be okay I assured my self while stepping down the concrete steps. As I was about to head off to school I heard my name being faintly called or so what I thought was my name. At first I paid no attention thinking it was probably just some stray cat.
Then I heard it again and I slowly pivoted around until I saw the small girl with vibrant and and recognizable red hair making her way towards me doing a sort of run walk movement.
It looked so funny and odd to me from the distance I was at and immediately broke out into laughter. Finally she caught up with me and her small short legs looked as if they were tingling. "Harppper" I shouted although she was literally in my face. As if catching on to my gesture she did the same only more louder and full of life. "Shaaayyyyy" we both laughed at how ridiculous we were being right now.
"On your way to school" I asked " yeah, but i needed company so I stopped you" that's cool I nodded back at her with a slight interested in what she was saying. "Is everything okay? You look like you were crying." "Yeah I'm fine just some "stuff" I'm going through right now."
Immediately Harper took the hint that I didn't want to talk about it and for that I was extremely glad. Trying to start up back conversation I asked Harper if she went to the same school as me. " I don't go to H.G. Wells but,I'd like to next year that is if I last that long around here."
