Val's POV
I turned around very slowly, to come face to face with a very huge wolf like creature. I never thought that a wolf can be this huge, even though I haven't seen a wolf in real life but still they can't be this giant right? I was like a petite little ant in front of it.
He had chocolate brown fur and honey brown eyes, with which he was staring at me with such intensity that it made me want to go in a dark corner and hide there all my life. My life right now was at the mercy of this creature and according to me he had no plans of letting me out of here alive.
My heart was drumming so loud that I am sure he heard it and my eyes were fixed at every move he made. He came closer and I wanted to run away from there for my dear life but where would I go? Behind me was the lake which was out of the question because I don't known how to swim and I wasn't even allowed to cross that. Doing so would mean ensuring my death. And in front of me was this big wolf who would surely kill me. Which leaves me out of options and which means I am going to die today!
I don't want to die now! I haven't even seen the world out of Oklahoma. I haven't found the love of my life yet. I lived all alone and I don't want to die alone as well. The only people whom I can trust were Blake and his wife, Jen. And my only friend was Gem, even though I met him yesterday but he understands me. I hope he's okay! Though I don't know, where he disappeared suddenly.
The wolf was taking slow steps towards me as if he was studying his prey. I began to walk backwards slowly. Even if I tried to run I wouldn't be able to outrun him. God please save me! I wasn't able to say my last goodbye to Blake. The old man would be wondering what is taking me so long? Blake forgive me, I wasn't able to fulfill the one task you gave me.
I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't noticed that I am on the edge of the lake now and the wolf was still taking slow steps towards me. I have never been this scared in my entire life, I guess this is what facing your death does to you. Suddenly the huge wolf stopped just five feet's away from me. At first I thought maybe he had changed his mind and had decided not to kill me but then it jumped right at me with a loud roar and I let out a blood curdling scream and took a step back but I am sure no one heard me over his loud roar.
It all happened so fast. One minute I was standing on the ground screaming and in the other I was drowning in the water. Guess, I shouldn't have taken that step back but then again if I didn't, then I would have been that wolf's dinner for today. And all of a sudden it became hard to breath. I tried moving my legs around, attempting to swim but it didn't made any difference.
The water swallowed me whole and the lack of oxygen was making me dizzy. I screamed again hoping that someone would hear me maybe. But all in vain. I was sinking down and down and down. My vision was blurred and I couldn't make out anything. Even my limbs had given up by now. My mind was numb and darkness began to overpower me.
The only thing I can see was darkness and just before blacking out I saw a silhouette moving towards me or maybe it was an illusion, maybe my mind was playing tricks at me and before I can make out anything my eyes gave up and I blacked out !!!!
