Val's POV
After showing us all the events the mirror went blank and the darkness in the room vanished. I was standing there shell shocked, my fists were clutching Ryan's shirt tightly and his arms were around my waist, helping me to stand erect. I was feeling light in my head. I can't believe that all of it was real. My parents weren't human, as I assumed that they were. I myself am not human.
I don't know how to feel. I was sad because of all the secrets that had been kept away from me, but I was happy too because now I know who my parents were and that they loved me. I always thought that my parents left me on my own because I was a burden on them and that they didn't love me. But now I know they left me to protect me from these monsters, who are still trying to kill me.
These creatures took away my parents from me. I could have been living a normal life like all the normal girls but no, I had to suffer because of them. My parents had to suffer because of them. And now when its their turn to suffer they want to get rid of me to ease their hardship. But I won't let that happen, I would make them pay for ruining mine and my parents life. My parents kept me safe for ages, now its my turn to return the favour, by taking their revenge.
I didn't realize that I was crying until I felt a cold hand brushing my tears away. I lifted my eyes to be greeted by ocean blue ones which held so many emotions in them that I wasn't able to break the eye contact. Ryan gave me a charming smile which was enough to sooth my aching heart. I returned the smile sweetly. We were pulled out of our trance by a high pitched voice "So, Ryan now you understood why her death is so important for our survival---" Laura spoke but was interrupted by Keil. "Corrections required Laura. Not our survival but your survival. We would be completely fine having Valerie as our queen. For once I am grateful for being a vampire." He spoke with a smirk and Laura shot daggers at him with her eyes.
"Whatever! But she must die for all the other creatures to be safe." The witch spoke. "What makes you think that we would allow you to kill my mate Laura?" Ryan asked. "Because Ryan, killing one person is more tempting than killing thousands of supernaturals." Laura replied getting annoyed. "Well to me killing thousands of supernaturals is more tempting than killing the love of my life." Ryan said while staring at me, which made my heart flutter. "You have gone mad Ryan. You are defending this curse and going against us. Don't forget you are a supernatural as well." Laura threatened. "ENOUGH!! You have no right to insult my mate like that." Ryan growled and a tint of red was visible in his blue eyes.
Laura was taken aback by his sudden outburst but she regained her composure back. "You alone can't protect her against us all." Laura said and Keil replied "Who said that he's alone. You are forgetting that he's the vampire king and the whole kingdom is with him. You also can't deny the fact that right now our kingdom is the most powerful among all the others." Laura seemed to be tongue tied after Keil's reply. But after a good few moments of silence she glared at me and spoke venomously "Don't get your hopes high Valerie, you will soon be meeting your parents in hell." I let out a shaky breath at the mention of my parents. "In your dreams, witch." I spat at her and everybody looked surprised by my tone. I never speak so harshly with anyone but she is just getting on my nerves.
"We should get going now." Ryan spoke sensing the tension in the air and Keil nodded in agreement, while I was more interested in giving this witch a piece of mind. He put his one hand around my waist and with the other he held my hand and dragged me towards the exit. Just as we were about to leave the room we heard Laura say "Do whatever you please Ryan but one day she will be taken away from you. Mark my words." Ryan turned around to face her and replied in a dangerous tone "And on that day I would kill you all with my bare hands, Laura. Mark my words." And with that we were out of the witch's castle. But I didn't failed to catch the glimpse of fear in Laura's eyes when Ryan said his last words.
We were out in the forest, on our way back to our castle. No one uttered a single word during the whole ride. It was a comfortable silence. We could hear birds chirping and the faint sound of water flowing from the fountain. It was soothing. But then a question popped up in my mind and the calming silence was murdered by me "Ryan?" I asked softly to get his attention and he hummed in reply urging me to continue. "Zeas said that the vampire kingdom would be destroyed when my father will not be there to rule them, then how come it is still there?" I asked. He glanced at me and replied "It was destroyed. We built it again." "Hey! Not we Valerie, Ryan built it again." Keil shouted from over his horse. So he was eavesdropping. "No, I wasn't. I just so happened to have vampire hearing, you know." Keil replied playfully. I stared at him wide eyed. How did he knew what I was thinking? "All vampires like your mate can read minds, dear." Keil answered and my mouth fell in an 'o' shape in realization.
Then I turned my attention towards Ryan and asked "You built it again. How?" "You remember, when I told you that I was converted into a vampire?" He asked and I nodded. "It started just then. The people who turned me into a vampire and threatened to kill my family, were your father's most trusted men from the royal court." He said and my heart skipped a bit. When I didn't say anything he continued.
"Your father told them to turn me."
