Val's POV
We were on our way towards the witch's kingdom. It had been one whole day and we are still not anywhere near the kingdom. Keil had mentioned that it would take five days or maybe more to reach there. I guess coming along was a bad idea, because it's getting really frustrating. There's nothing special to see, all we can see are huge tall trees.
Keil was mounted on a healthy black horse and me and Ryan were on the same white horse due to my inability of riding a horse. This time I was sitting on the front with Ryan behind me. His hands were around my waist in order to hold the side reins. Nothing was clearly visible because it was dark and there was only a faint moonlight which didn't helped much. I was dozing off again and again due to the tiring journey and my head was pressed against Ryan's chest.
When I dozed off again, I heard a deep chuckle from Ryan and I lifted my sleepy eyes to have a look at him. "Sleepy already. We still have a long journey ahead." He said amusedly and I replied slowly "Can't we find a place to stay for the night?" He sighed and shook his head. "Keil the lady here is sleepy. We have to find a safe place to stop by." "Yeah sure Ryan. We can stop by the river. It's just a while away. We will get there in no time." Keil said, smiling at my sleepy form.
As Keil said, we reached the river in no time and Keil tied the horses to a tree nearby. Keil went to gather some wood barks to lit up a fire while Ryan and me stayed there. "Come, you can sleep over there." Ryan pointed to a decent looking place and I nodded. We went there and I as asked Ryan "Don't you want to sleep?" "No we vampires can stay awake without sleeping for fifteen days at the most. So, me and Keil are just going to keep a check on you while you sleep." He said and I smiled at him gratefully and sleep overpower me quickly.
I was jolted awake by Ryan. My eyes opened up widely but I shut them up quickly due to the sun's glare. "Wake up Valerie. We have to leave." I heard Ryan speak. "God! She's a heavy sleeper. Ryan, how are you going to handle her for an eternity." Keil said. I blushed and sit up while hiding my face behind the curtain of my hair. "Shut up." Ryan glared at Keil and he just rolled his eyes. "Now come on Valerie we have a long day ahead." Keil said and I nodded. Ryan untied the horses and I went to the river and washed my face. When I returned, Keil and Ryan were already mounted on their respective horses. Ryan helped me up and we started our journey in silence.
"Keil you said that entering the witch's kingdom is not easy. Why so?" I asked just to start up a conversation. "Yeah it's not because the witches are extremely smart they have barriers set up to prevent the intruders." He replied. "So how are we going to enter the kingdom?" I wondered. "We will find a way to enter." Ryan spoke and once again we were occupied by silence. But it didn't last for long because we heard a rustling noise from nearby and it appeared like it was coming towards us. I sighed in relief when a deer came out of the bushes and not some dangerous creature.
But Ryan and Keil were still having an alarmed look on their faces. "Let's leave. FAST!" Ryan said seriously and with that the horses began to run at an abnormally fast pace. I was so confused. "What happened?" I asked to no one in particular. "There are wolfs out there. Hell there's a whole pack of them. How did they found us?" Keil asked frantically. "How am I supposed to know?" Ryan replied bluntly. "They are catching up. We need to do something." Keil said and Ryan nodded while looking at me. "Calm down. Your heart is going crazy." He said with narrowed eyes making me more nervous, but still I tried to calm myself down.
I was gradually starting to ease myself but all my efforts went in vain when out of nowhere a huge scary black wolf with crimson red eyes jumped in front of us. A terrified squeal left my lips. And slowly we were surrounded by the whole pack of wolfs, they were ten or twelve in total and each one of them was at least thrice our size. I don't know how we are going to make it out alive. My eyes were frantically roaming in search of any escape but I found none. My breathes were unsteady and my heart went insane by now, I pushed myself into Ryan's chest in hope of gaining some comfort and in return he wrapped his arms securely around my waist.
Keil was surprisingly calm throughout but I did noticed that his eyes were red and his fangs were out. This was the first time I saw Keil in his vampire form and to be honest it was scary. Ryan on the other hand was in his human form and I guess it was because he didn't wanted me to get further more scared. "We can solve it out peacefully.... -" Keil started calmly but he was cut off by a loud growl coming from the black wolf who I think was the alpha of the pack. They weren't in the mood of a chit chat, they certainly wanted to kill us.
I looked towards Ryan and he indicated me to get off the horse and I did. Along with me Ryan and Keil too mounted down from the horses. The wolfs were appearing more intimidating from down here which made me gulp down in fear. All of a sudden a dark brown wolf pounced at me making me scream but before it can harm me Ryan threw it out with a massive force. My eyes were widened and my legs were trembling, this was a horrid situation. Ryan looked towards me and his eyes were slowly changing their color from blue to red. And in no time there was a havoc created in the forest. Two vampires against a whole pack of werewolves.
Ryan pushed me behind him and Keil so that I would be safe. They were fighting against the whole pack for me. I couldn't be more thankful to them. Whatever Ryan did was to protect me, since the beginning it was always to save me from these terrifying creatures. Why did I ever hated him and called him a monster?....... I was ripped apart from my thoughts when I heard a growl from behind me. I gulped and slowly turned around, but before I can turn fully the wolf jumped on me. I attempted to run away from it but it caught my leg in its jaws, I fell on the ground and let out a deafening scream which grabbed Ryan's attention and his eyes went from red to pitch black in anger. In a few seconds the wolf was torn away from me and that's when I noticed that it was the alpha. I began hyper venting.
Tears of pain were forming in my eyes and blood was oozing out of my leg. I bit my lip to keep it from trembling but it was of no use. The pain was unbearable and an unwanted sob escaped from my mouth. Ryan and Keil were kneeling by my side now and that's when I came to know that some of the wolfs were dead and some simply ran away. Ryan was holding me in his arms, hugging me to his chest and I squeezed his biceps in utter pain. "God Ryan, she's bit by the alpha!! What are we going to do now?? The alpha's venom is deadly." Keil panicked.
"R-R-Ryan I --" "Shh!" I whispered but I was shushed by Ryan. For the first time I saw fear in his eyes.
