^^ Laura ^^
Val's POV
It had been five days, since we had started our journey again to the witch's castle. Nothing remarkable happened during these days for which I am thankful. Right now we were at the barrier that the witch had created to prevent the intruders and we certainly don't know how to cross it. The barrier is nothing like that I expected it to be, its like a huge invisible wall which provides us the inside view but we can't cross it.
It had been an hour and we still haven't made any progress. "I think we should try to break it. It would create some sort of disturbance in the witch's so called security and maybe she'll come to see who is responsible for it." Keil suggested, getting frustrated from all our unsuccessful attempts. Ryan nodded, he was equally irritated. They both tried to break the barrier with their vampire strengths and it kind of worked as the barrier started emitting some sort of blue light. All of a sudden a woman appeared on the other side of the barrier, she most definitely wasn't the queen, judging by her outfit she looked like a maid. "May I ask who are you and why are you trying to enter our lands without permission." She said curtly, glaring at us for causing inconvenience. "I am Ryan. Ryan Knight!" Ryan replied arrogantly. That was the first time I heard his full name and it seemed to suit his persona. Knight! I repeated in my mind while blushing for an unknown reason.
Realization dawned upon the women and she looked a bit frightened. "Oh, your Highness I apologize for my rude behavior. I wasn't aware of who you are. Please forgive me for my ill manners." She said in a sugar coated tone, completely contrasting her bitter words, which she spoke seconds ago. Ryan just stood there silently glaring at the women. "Well miss, we are here to meet queen Laura. Would you be generous enough to permit us to enter your territory." Keil said sarcastically and the women nodded nervously, allowing us to enter the weakened barrier. As soon as we entered the barrier was recreated just like it was before.
She lead us through the barrier towards the queens castle, which was quite far from here. While walking I noticed that there were no houses made up of bricks and muds but they were what seemed like tree houses. As far as one can see, they will only witness the natural beauty far away from the artificial world of humans. There were birds chirping around happily, calming our souls and a massive fountain was visible from down here enhancing the beauty of this place. I just hope that the people here are just as inviting as their surroundings are.
After quite some time we reached the castle and it was really intriguing. It was dark, unlike the rest of the kingdom, as if it had been abandoned for hundreds of years. I didn't have a good feeling about this. Sensing my unease Ryan hold my hand in his and gave me an encouraging smile. It helped me a bit to calm down. "The queen is in the throne room, you can meet her there your majesty." The women said directing her words towards Ryan. And Ryan as usual ignored her existence and lead us inside the scary looking castle.
The interior of the castle, however was eye catching unlike the exterior which was pretty surprising. The same maid guided us towards the throne room and left without uttering a single word. The people here scared me, they had that ghastly appearances and it seemed like they are some living corpse devoid of all emotions. As we stood outside the room, Ryan slowly tugged at my hand to pull me out of my thoughts. "You still doubt your safety, when I am around." He said amusedly and I just shook my head in denial while smiling at his attempt to lighten the environment.
We entered the room with Keil trailing behind. He seemed to be amazed by the castle's twists and turns, well I can't blame him it was quite hard to remember the way from where we had entered the castle owing to the amount of turns it had. As soon as we were in the throne room, I heard a booming voice "What had bought the vampire king to my castle?" My head instantly snapped at the direction of the voice and there she was, the queen of witches in all her glory, sitting on her throne seat. She was fairly beautiful as compared to the other witches, we have came across on our way. "Laura! Nice to meet you too." Ryan said while narrowing his eyes. The way he took her name clearly gave me an idea that he didn't like her much. Then again Ryan didn't like anybody. "Ah! I am sorry your Highness. I welcome you all to my kingdom. May I know who are these people with you?" She said the last part glaring at me. "That's my friend." He said while nodding towards Keil. "And she's my mate. That's all you have to know for now." He pulled me a little closer when he said mate. "Well my name is Keil." Keil took the liberty to introduce himself causing Ryan to glare at him.
The queen stood up and came near us, well near me. She was studying me like I was some alien, it made me squirm in my position. She stopped right in front of me and tilted her head. "So, she's the one." She said while inspecting me thoroughly. "I wonder how she survived against my creatures that night." The queen whispered and my eyes went wide. She was the one who sent those creatures after me, but why? Ryan pulled me aside and stood in between me and the queen. "Why?" He growled out the one question which I wanted to know. The witch smirked at him and answered "Just wanted to check something." "What?" This time it was Keil who asked the question.
"Don't tell me you guys don't know who she is." She scoffed. "I attacked her with the help of my creatures, to find out if she really is, what people say she is. And guess what? She really is the miracle." Laura continued and I stared at her confused. "She is my mate and no miracle. I would appreciate it if you would stop playing dirty tricks on her" Ryan replied to which she laughed hysterically.
"So you really don't know about her. Well let me inform you. Your mate is a threat to the supernaturals, your Highness." She spat glaring at me with hatred..........
