^^ The Castle ^^
Val's POV
I stepped away from him and mumbled in embarrassment "You could have told me that you are not Raven....... You weren't supposed to do that." "Well miss Valerie, I am kind of glad that I didn't informed you about me not being Raven. That was quite a sight to see." He replied bluntly making me blush bright red.
"By the way you should lock your door when you are doing something ........ private." He added and went out of the door, leaving me dumbfounded. As soon as he left Raven entered and inquired about what happened between us and I told her how I embarrassed myself in front of the king. "Oh! Its okay dear don't be upset about it." Raven tried to cheer me up.
I already had my lunch and right now I was sitting in my room...more like my allotted room, I was getting bored. There was nothing much to do here, and when I offered to help in the household work, Ryan rudely rejected it. I wonder why is he keeping me here. I was pulled out of my thoughts when Raven entered the room. "Can I help you with anything Valerie?" She asked politely and I replied "Yes! You can Raven." I wanted to know why I am here, I wanted to know about the king, I had many questions which were unanswered and I think Raven can answer them.
"What would that be?" Raven asked. "Can you tell me why I am here?" I asked straight away. She looked taken aback like she wasn't expecting this. There was pin drop silence for a good few minutes, which was making me more and more nervous. Then finally Raven broke it. "I actually don't know why you are here Val. Master Ryan never keeps a human alive for longer, especially when they had crossed or intruded the forbidden lake. This is unusual of him." Hearing this made my heart thump in my chest, he has never kept a human alive which means he can kill me at any moment. I regained my composure and asked her "Would he kill me too?" "I don't know Val. He is unpredictable." Her answers were developing a new fear in me, the fear of the vampire king.
"What is he like Raven? The real him?" I asked her. "Oh dear! I don't think you want to know the real him. You are way too innocent for that." "No! I want to know. I need to know Raven. Please tell me." She sighed and said "Okay. I will tell you." With that she took a seat beside me on the bed and began to talk.
"He is a very dangerous person Val. He is ruthless and merciless to the extent that people consider him a heartless beast. He had killed numerous innocent people in such ways which you can't even imagine in your wildest dreams. He has ruled over this castle, this village and has treated its people pitilessly since I can remember." She took a deep breath and continued "He was the one who set an agreement with your ancestors which made the lake and this part of the woods forbidden for humans. No one knows what was the reason behind it and no one dared to know about it. I have been working here for thirty years and since then I have always seen him as the ruthless king, he never shows any type of emotion apart from anger. I would advice you to maintain as much distance as you can from him. He had always had an aversion for humans, I am actually surprised that you are still alive." She finished and I felt like I was going to faint, my heart was running a million mile per minute and my hands were shaking, I don't know why, but I guess this whole thing had developed a new fear of him in me.
How can a person be this cruel? Why would he kill innocent people? What had they done to him? And most importantly how did he became this heartless? Or was he like that from the start? I had million more questions but it was all a lot for me to take in so I have to put those questions for later. "Do you need anything Val. You look pale." Raven asked and I shook my head indicating that I was fine. She nodded and left.
For hours, I was just sitting on the bed, processing the new found information. I was exhausted, even if I didn't do much work, my eyes started to get heavy and slowly I fell into a deep slumber.
