Ryan's POV
My head instantly steered to the side when I heard Valerie's scream, and the sight in front of me made my blood boil. That alpha had bit my mate, my Valerie. I was filled with rage and in no time I ripped him off of her. I was about to break his neck when I heard a small whimper of pain coming from Valerie. I let him go and he cowardly left with the remaining of his pack. I went to Valerie and kneeled down to her position. I held her in my arms and she squeezed my biceps harshly but I didn't mind.
I can see in her tearful eyes that she was in utter pain. "God Ryan, she's bit by the alpha! What are we going to do now?? The alpha's venom is deadly." Keil panicked but I didn't paid much attention to him. "R-R-Rayn I.. -" Valerie tried to speak but I saw her struggle and shushed her. For the first time in my life I was scared, scared to loose her, scared to loose my mate, my life.
Her eyes were slowly dropping, and I didn't tell her to stay awake because I can't bear to see her in immense pain. I knew it would take one whole day for the venom to spread in her body and if I want to save her, I have to do it before her whole body is engulfed by the alpha's venom. But for now she can be unconscious to get away from the pain. I felt her hold on my biceps weakens and slowly she went out of consciousness. I wasn't able to think straight because of her pathetic condition. "RYAN YOU IDIOT!! Do something she's out. We have only one day and I don't want to loose my friends. If she dies you will die too. YOU DUMBASS GET UP!" Keil shouted and I muttered "I don't know what to do Keil?"
"You have to save her that's what you have to do." He replied. "But how?" I asked while staring at Valerie. "What?? I can't believe it, you out of all people are asking me how Ryan! Are you out of your mind? There's only one thing that can reverse the action of a supernatural's venom." Keil answered and that's when it hit me, the elixir of serenity , that's our only hope. I have never been there before but I know that to reach there we have to cross our paths with the sirens, they are women who can lure passerby's with their enchanting voices, which makes it impossible to reach the elixir. The only way to pass them is to trap them in their own game of seduction, at least that's what I think.
"Now we have to figure it out that how are we going to reach there?" Keil's question brought me out of my train of thoughts and I smirked while looking at him and he knew exactly what I was thinking. "Oh.. No no no no no. No Ryan not me." He pleaded but I gave him an stern look and he sighed in defeat and said "Only for Valerie." I smiled as I knew Keil would be the only person who can perform this job with his flirtatious nature. I picked up Valerie bridal style and made sure that I won't hurt her injured leg more. Than me and Keil left for our destination leaving our horses behind. Going on a horse would be more time consuming then going by our vampire speeds.
Today I realized that Valerie means the world to me and I can't afford to loose her at any cost. She's the only one who had managed to get a devil to fall for her innocence. I never thought that I would ever be in love but she somehow got me to fall in love with her.
I came back to reality when Keil spoke in hushed tone "We reached the sirens, which means the elixir won't be far from here." Wow, I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't realized that half a day had already passed. I looked at Keil and said "You go first and divert their minds, I will slip away when they are busy with you. Stay here till I come back with Valerie." He nodded and went ahead. We both weren't able to hear their voices because we had put ear buds to block the sound so that we won't get lured by the voices.
Keil reached them and I hid behind a tree so that I can find the perfect moment to escape. The sirens were absolutely beautiful but they can not outrun the beauty of my Valerie. I smiled to myself at the thought and when the sirens were engrossed with Keil, I took the advantage and passed them while winking at Keil and he nodded. I searched the elixir for about half an hour and finally I found it.
In between the dark forest there stood my only hope to save the love of my life. I didn't know till now that the elixir of serenity is actually a tree, an enchanted tree which stands over the serene water.
I took Valerie near it and kneeled down. I removed the piece of cloth from her injured leg and poured the serene water over her wound and in a matter of seconds the wound disappeared, but her body was still lying lifelessly in my arms. I didn't knew what to do now, when all of a sudden the leaves of the tree converted into white doves and they started flying over our head. They brought something which looked like a herb and placed it in my hand. I wasn't aware what to do next but those doves guided me to put the herb in Valerie's mouth and I did.
Slowly her eyes fluttered open and they landed on me. I can't describe the happiness I experienced at that moment. She looked at me with so many emotions in her eyes but one stood out of them all and undoubtedly it was love. She had tears in her eyes when she sat up and wrapped her arms around my neck, I thought she would hug me like she always does but no she didn't. This time she placed her warm lips on my cold one's and I instantly wrapped my arms around her waist. We kissed for what seemed like a decade. Her lips moved in perfect sync with my own and it felt like our lips were the missing pieces of a puzzle, which was now complete. I moved my hands from her waist to her satin cheeks and deepened the kiss. The back of my neck tingles as her fingers played with my hair. The kiss held so much passion in it that it can't be described in words. My whole body was craving for her touch.
And for the first time, after thousands of years I felt my heart beat faintly.....
