Chapter 8

^^ The Study ^^

Val's POV

The next morning I woke up with the birds chirping outside the window. It was kind of refreshing. The sun was not fully out right now which means it was early in the morning. Raven usually comes around at 7 am to tell me that she has prepared the bath for me, but I guess today I can do it by myself and it's not like that I have anything else to do anyway.

After I was done bathing. I went to the closet with a white fluffy towel around me and I made sure that the door was locked behind me, so that I won't embarrass myself again. I looked through and picked up a lilac color dress which was similar to the blue one I wore the other day. I got dressed and braided my hair, few short strands of hair were coming out of it but I don't mind. I was all done and I don't know what to do now.

I can't living here forever, I have to find a way out of here. Ryan would probably kill me so what's the point in wasting my time here, waiting for my death. But first I have to make an effective plan so that I won't get caught. All of a sudden the door opened and in came Raven. Oh! Thank God, its Raven, I don't know how will I face Ryan after knowing about him. "Oh you are already up." Raven said. "Yeah! I thought I would surprise you today." I replied playfully and Raven let out a small laugh.

"Okay, well its good that you are ready. Master Ryan wants to meet you in his study." she informed me. My eyes went wide and I began to panic "Why would he want to meet me?" I asked. "I don't know dear. He just told me to inform you."   "I don't want to go Raven. He scares me. What if he kills me there." I told her. "Val, dear I know you are scared but you can't do anything about it. Its his castle and what he says has to be followed..... Now come on, I would take you to the study." She said and I reluctantly followed.

We passed many doors and turned many corners on our way and right now we were in a huge hallway, it was decorated beautifully. There were large maroon curtains around the pillars on both sides of the hallway which was making it more eye catching. We turned around one more corner and Raven finally stopped indicating that we have reached the study. My heart was beating abnormally fast and I was more than scared to face him. Raven noticed it and offered me a comforting smile, which didn't helped my condition but she doesn't have to know that. "Val, its going to be fine. Now I should leave." She said and left me before I can protest. With trembling hands I knocked on the door and then I heard a voice say come in.

I opened the door slowly and entered the study like a snail. When I was completely inside the room I heard him say "You can close the door now miss Valerie. I like my privacy." and I did as I was told. I looked around the room, which was dimly lit but it was quite large just like all the other rooms. He was standing in front of a large window, with his hands in his pocket. His back was facing me and there was an uncomfortable silence between us. "Uh-um.... Ra-raven told me th-that you wanted to se-e me." I shuttered. Well you can't blame me, I was scared. "Yeah! Miss Valerie I wanted to see you. You know, you can calm down, I can hear your heart racing and its kind of.... distracting." he said with his back still facing me. And I tried to calm down but it seems like my heart had some other plans, it started beating even more rapidly.

He turned around with an amused expression on his breathtaking face. What? No Val he is not breathtaking, he is a monster. Stop thinking like that. I scolded myself. "Well, I think your heart is not in your control right now miss Valerie..... I would ignore it for this once." He said and i sighed in relief. "Wha-why did you wanted to see me?" I inquired. "Ah well I wanted to inform you that there is a masquerade ball tomorrow in the castle, which is conducted every year on the same day and I want you to attend it as my plus one." He said nonchalantly, leaving me confused. What on earth is a masquerade ball and a plus one. "Uh, if you don't mind me asking, what is a masquerade ball and a plus one?" I asked unsure that it might anger him. But he just stood there without any expression. "Miss Valerie a masquerade ball is a significant event in the vampire world. It is usually a celebration for those vampires who had found there mates during the year. And a plus one is what you humans call a date." He explained like I was some little child. Why would he want a human as his date?  God, Raven was right, he is really unpredictable.

"So, do you agree miss Valerie?" He asked leaving me speechless. How can I attend a ball full of vampires with me being the only human. "You don't have to worry about other vampires hurting you miss Valerie.  As long as you are with me they won't hurt you." He said and I gasped. How did he knew what I was thinking about?  "I can read your mind miss Valerie." He answered again and my eyes widened. "So, miss Valerie?" He waited patiently for my reply. I can't say no to him, he may get offended by it, so I said "Yes, your Highness! I would attend the ball. And please call me Valerie." He looked like he was satisfied with my answer.

"Thank you, Valerie. You may leave now." and with that I rushed out of the study and went straight to my room, with my heart beating like crazy. Tomorrow is going to be a long day .....!!
