It was already past five in the morning. Kanina ko pa tinatawagan si Hudson but his phone's unattended.
2:45 A. M.
That's the exact time of the last text Hudson had sent me. How long has it been since that last text? It had been hours!
I tried calling him once more. Unattended pa rin. Shit. Masama na talaga ang kutob ko. I grabbed a cardigan from my closet and headed outside. I asked our driver to drive me to BGC.
Kuya Fred slowed down because of the traffic.
Kuya Fred said while clicking his tongue and shaking his head.
My chest felt heavier and tighter. My mouth suddenly felt dry. Mariin akong pumikit. I pushed the thought at the back of my mind and tried to calm down.
Imposible. Hindi. That's not gonna happen.
"Hindi ba 'yan Wrangler ni Sir Hudson? Plate number niya 'yan—"
No... I tightly closed my eyes. My phone's vibrating in my hand. Someone's calling and it was an unknown number.
"H-Hello?"
"Autumn?"
Natulos ako sa kinatatayuan. I knew that voice. I fucking knew that voice. Kaparehong-kapareho 'yun ng boses ni Hudson. "K-Kuya Gibbs?"
I heard him sighed. "I'm sorry if I called this early. There's something—"
"Kuya..." Napapikit ako. I hope this nightmare to end. I hope it end soon. "Kuya si H..." My voice was shaking.
He sighed again. I can't see him but I'm pretty sure he looked anxious. He sounded like he was. "That's the reason why I called..." Kuya Gibbs' small voice was making it harder for me to breathe. That wasn't his usual voice.
I bit my lip suppressing a sob. "Kaya lang...his car... His car, Kuya... It was..."
"Calm down, Autumn." Mahinahong sabi ni Kuya Gibbs. "H got into an accident. He was—"
Lalong lumakas ang iyak ko. I felt my lungs shrink. My heart dropped to my feet. My entire body temperature dropped. The breeze suddenly felt colder than it already was. Pakiramdam ko pinipilipit ang tiyan ko. I can't find it in me to move or to even listen to Kuya Gibbs instructions. I just stood there and watched my world fall apart.
