We Have Each other's Backs ✔

As I lay next to her, my nerves are wild. We never spoke a word to each other after the meeting. Its morning now, and I have nothing planned for today, I plan on just being here with her. I look over and she sleeps soundlessly, her mouth slightly open as she breathes lightly.

My hand finds her face as I stroke her cheek. She bats her eyelashes, waking up from my light touch.

"Sierra"

"Ethan..."

She scoots over so she can lay her head on my chest. She cuddles against my body, every touch feels like fire.

"We never talked about last night..", I begin with a sigh.

She stops moving, propping herself up on one elbow. She takes one quick look at me before leaning down.

And her lips meet mine. My heart pounds hard against my chest as I realize she's kissing me. I deepen the kiss, bring my hand to steady her body as she climbs on top of me. She stops, sitting up straight.

"Sierra..", I breathlessly sigh at the beautiful woman straddling me.

"You chose me. You chose me to join with you, I figured you would choose Jasper-"

"Why the hell would I choose him", I couldn't hold back the growl my wolf forces out. How could she possibly think she'd be behind anyone in my life. She should know she's first.

"I- I", she rapidly starts looking around the room, her lip between her teeth. She's hiding something.

"Tell me", I command. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath.

"After you left.. I went to the stream-"

"You did what?!", I sit up so we're only inches apart. Anger bubbles inside me at her betrayal," you promised"

"I know! But.. I had to do something.. I knew about the joining. And I raced immediately to you- to try and stop it", she places her hands against my chest in attempt to sooth me.

"How did you know?"

"The old Beta told me. He was joined with Isaiah. I think he died after I left.. I couldn't bare to think that could happen to you.. But he told me Lucifer would pick your Beta to join with you.. But he let you choose.. And you chose me", a small smile spreads on her face at the last few words.

"You still went against your word", I shake my head at her," that isn't ok"

She suddenly scowls," just because you're Alpha now doesn't mean I have to listen to everything you say"

"Hey. Don't be like that. I trusted you-"

"And you still can trust me! You sound insane. I've seen how obsessive you are of me lately. At first I admit I liked it, but now its just plain out annoying", she rolls her eyes and rolls off me to the other side of the bed.

"Sierra I don't know what these new feelings are. Ever since I've become Alpha- I've felt certain things for you",  I grab her arm to stop her from getting up from the bed.

"Have you ever thought for just a second it could be cause you've developed feelings for me?! Just because now you're "Alpha" doesn't mean you have to like me you know", she shakes off my grip and stands up.

"Are you serious?..", now its my turn to feel angry," Sierra I have "had feelings" for you since the very start. Becoming Alpha had no change in that- nothing! You have always meant the world to me- you've always been my everything", I drag myself to her side of the bed," have you never seen the way I feel about you?"

"I've only ever been your best friend Ethan!", she shouts, tears rolling down her cheeks," you've never tried to be something more with me. You had me take you to Human territory just so you could sleep with random girls!"

"So.. What are you going to do while I.. Um", my eyes look everywhere but at Sierra.

"I'll go to the park.. Walk around.. You can find me there once.. You're done", she starts to walk away.

"Thanks", I mumble to myself.

"Don't have too much fun", she sings, but I could hear the hint of pain in her voice. Probably because we're going to be apart for a few hours.

I walk up the stairs to a girls apartment. With a smirk on my face I knock three times on the door. Its only a few seconds before the door opens. She smirks and bites her lip, her eyes looking down and up my whole body.

"Finally you're here", the girl grabs my shirt and pulls me into her apartment- her lips smashing against mine.

"I didn't think you liked me", I look down at the bed in shame.

"Fucking bullshit Ethan. You knew", she shakes her head and crawls across the bed to me," you knew! You knew! You knew!"

I let her hit my arm, because I did know. I could see all the signs she gave me. I've lead her on, but more than anything I have always been afraid of hurting her. I always did one night things, I've never committed to anything but a friendship. After I saw my mate dead in a group of wolves- I just lost the part in me to be with someone.

"I knew", I admit. It seems to calm her down a bit that I did. Against her will, I snake my arms around her body. I pull her against me as I lay down.

"Ethan- please let me go", she pushes against me.

"Sierra.. I love you"

"What.."

"I love you", I repeat.

Its silent for what seems like eternity. But I get my answer as she crashes her lips against mine. Our lips move together and I've never been happier than in this very moment.

"I love you too", she whispers against my lips before kissing me again.
