My heart raced as we ran through the forest. We had barely gotten anywhere considering we weren't fully grown; we were slow. My feet got stuck in the mud a few times but Ethan quickly pulled me out. The tree's seemed to only get taller and taller the further we went. I had realized we were no longer in our territory, not that there was a territory anymore. I saw a tree trunk that was opened at the bottom. It had an opening that could easily fit Ethan and I both in it. The tree was tall in the sky, I couldn't see the top.
"There!",I pointed to the tree. He turned his head to look at it and nodded. With a turn we were headed in its direction. It wasn't too far away from us. We slid to a stop in front of it. I couldn't help but look up again, it was so large it looked as if it could scratch the sky. Him and I quickly curled our self's in it. We were close together, but we could both stretch our legs. I looked out at the forest, it didn't look like anything had been through here in ages. I turned my attention back to Ethan I could see his fatigue. We couldn't risk shifting into wolfs, we couldn't carry our clothes in our mouths. And we weren't about to walk around the forest naked. His chest raised and fell at a quick rate as he tried to calm his breathing. He looked out at the forest and shook his head.
"Sierra I can't do this"
My head immediately pops up. What did he mean he can't do this? Can he not stay in the trunk?,"what do you mean you can't do this?"
"I can't survive in the wild",he whines and covers his face with his hands. I see his shoulders start to shake, indicating he was crying. I felt was he was feeling. But it had not registered in my mind that we would have to survive. I scooted over next to him. I didn't know what to say to him, so I laid my head on his shoulder instead.
