10 - breaking the rules isn't bad

sadie, sophia and i left the boys' cabin after meeting jack and went back to cabin seven.
i had to admit i was glowing after spending the day with finn. there was something about him. i wanted to know more, to uncover more of his clearly hidden personality.
"you alright?" asked sadie, noticing my silence, i was just lost in thought.
"i'm good." i said, smiling.
we were all still starving having barely touched our disgusting food so it was a big relief when sophia pulled a large chip packet out of her bag.
all three of us gathered on one bed and ate happily. "so why're you two here?" sophia asked us, stuffing chips into her mouth. sadie and i exchange an awkward glance.
"we stole some vodka." sadie replied. sophia nodded.
"what about you?" i asked her, curious.
"oh this is my third year here." she told us. my mouth opened, shocked.
"what the hell have you done to end up here three times?!" sadie asked just as shocked as me.
"if you knew what i did you wouldn't be talking to me." she said, swallowing her mouthful casually.
i raised my eyebrows, "rulebreaker huh?" she shrugged.
"breaking the rules isn't bad." sadie said. "it's just an alternative path."

it was gone midnight before we decided to get to sleep. i was on the right bottom bunk, beneath sadie and sophia was across from me.
i was still pretty hungry and looked forward to breakfast the next morning, hoping it wouldn't be as shit as dinner. i planned to spend most of the summer with the boys in cabin eight, we'd hit it off and i was sure sadie would want to be spending time with caleb.
i smiled to myself, this summer wasn't turning out as awful as i thought.
