The Secret

Lindsey didn't remove her sunglasses. She rode an economy class today. No one knew she's going home today. She called Joan just a couple of hours before her flight. And her best friend was very surprised. She looked at her wrist watch it's already one in the afternoon and Joan is just three kilometres away. Perhaps in less than thirty minutes she'll be here. One lady passenger who sits front of her stared. Lindsey smiled at her then she stood to transfer to another couch. Few minutes passed and her phone beeped. It's Joan informing her that she's already arrived. She took her steps as fast as she can.
" What's with you girl?"Joan asked. " long story " She replied. Joan drives the car. " Does your family know your coming?" Joan " No" Lindsey " What about Rain? " Joan " No" Lindsey  " Alright where are we going?" Joan " Can I stay at your place?" Lindsey " Sure. Mama misses you" Joan " But I want to visit Shepherds Nursing Home first " Lindsey " Huh? What for?" Joan was so amuse by her friends sudden visit. She wants to ask for a reason but she keep mum rather. She knew how hard headed Lindsey is.
The nursing home was quiet when they arrived. The residents and the nuns are having their prayer time at the chapel. A Caucasian nun by the name of sister Mary John invited them to join prayer time. And the two of them joyfully obliged.

" How are you Ms. Lindsey? " Sister Benedict the nursing home directress asked her later. " I'm good sister " Lindsey respond then took a gulp of fresh fruit juice that is a produce of the Nursing Home. They are inside Sister Benedict's office
" I was in Tokyo last week and I've heard the Japanese are giving your movie a great review " Sister Benedict " Really? That's nice to hear. I am all work when I'm there" Lindsey " You give pride to our country" The nun said. " Thank you sister " Lindsey utters then she transferred her gaze towards the garden. The glass window of sister Benedict's office are immaculately clean. " Are you going to order fabrics like Ms. Joan here? " Sister Benedict. Then turned towards Joan. Her Best friend just smiled. " No sister I want to extend help to residents here " Lindsey " Oh God bless you more Ms. Lindsey. You are the answer to our prayer" The nun was teary eyed "One of our less Privileged resident here badly needs an eye operation for cataract and we've been desperate lately to raise fund for her" Sister Benedict continues " How much will it cost? Perhaps I can help her? " Lindsey utters  " I'll give you the opthalmologist's number you can personally inquire regarding the operation" Sister Benedict
Lindsey was about to took another gulp when she saw two female caregivers. On the other wing. They are pushing the stretcher of  an unconscious resident. It is a female. They came from the building that is a home for their privileged residents. Soon they heard Sister Benedict's office phone rang. " Oh my ladies May I leave you for a while. We have an emergency " The nun said " it's okay Sister " Joan said. Lindsey looked at the other wing of the building. The resident that rides in the stretcher looked familiar. She stood and hurried towards Their direction. " Where you going? " Joan yelled.
The woman was frail and unconscious in the stretcher. Lindsey can sees she is gasping for breath as her chest is pounding rapidly. Her lovely face have aged beyond her years. " Mama..." Lindsey cried as she bent beside her. " Miss please move a little she needs to be brought to the hospital right away " The other caregiver uttered. Lindsey stepped aside. Tears continue to fall from her lovely face. For years she has longed to see her mama again. To hug her to be with her. But not like this her mother is good as dead.
" Excuse ma'am  but the patient has to be brought to the hospital now" One caregiver said " Alright I'll follow you " Lindsey uttered in between tears.

Lindsey and Joan waited outside the intensive care unit for almost an hour. Before one of the caregiver informed them that the patient's folk is coming. Thought Lindsey insisted that she is the child the nursing home didn't acknowledge it. So she can't get inside the intensive care unit right now.
At this moment all Lindsey wanted is to embrace her mama.
For eighteen years she has dreamt of this moment.
Her Papa was conversing with Sister  Benedict at the hallway as they are approaching the Intensive Care Unit. Perhaps the nun has already informed him that she is there.
" Luisa you're here!" Lorenzo was surprised to see his eldest. The nun didn't inform him Lindsey's around. " Ahm sir Ms. Lindsey here claims she is the nearest kin. But what you told us is that patient Pia Rivera is a distant cousin not your first wife. And we have no idea that Ms. Lindsey is your child too" Sister Benedict said. " Yes Sister Papa didn't told you that Pia Rivera was his wife because he really intends to throw her away and he was never proud of me as his daughter. Perhaps he has doubts that I am his " Furious Lindsey said. Her face flushed. Joan pinched her in the arm. The nun became dumbfounded. " Ahhm if you'll excuse us Ms. Joan and I would like a cup of  coffee " Sister Mary Benedict utters. " Yeah right Sister " Joan responds then she held the two caregivers by the arm to go with them.
Soon Lindsey and Lorenzo were left alone in the hallway. Perhaps her Papa has rented the whole Intensive Care Unit as she can see none other patient but her Mama.
" What did you do to Mama? You destroyed her!" Lindsey cried " I'm sorry my child. I didn't intend this to happen to her" Lorenzo said teary eyed " look at her Papa she is good as dead, you tell me you  didn't mean it?" Lindsey " No child. I love your Mama so much. That thought I knew she has an affair with my top competitor for a long time and she revealed some vital information about my company. It never occurred to me to hurt her " Lorenzo " So how did she became like this? Didn't you intentionally strangled her then kicked her down the stairs to make it look like an accident. Right Papa " Lindsey Lorenzo shook his head " No! I just held her dress to bring her to the stairs but she resisted. She tried to run to your room to convince you to go with her. I spread my arms to stop her. And I can't let it happen. you Are my precious princess. By the strong force of my arm. Pia accidentally lost her balance she fell down, unfortunately The impact was tremendous. Her neck twisted and it caused her to become paralyzed neck  down " Lorenzo " Why you didn't tell me?" Lindsey " I was scared police might detain me for it. And I don't want you tagged as a daughter of  a criminal granting I'll stay in prison. Besides you knew your Mama's relatives they are leeches they might pursue the case just to get more money from me. And I was so scared because I don't want you to hate me. I know how much you love your Mama" Lorenzo still crying " But what have you done to me Papa? You pushed me out of your life like what you did to Mama" Lindsey yelled " I'm sorry my child. But your velvet eyes was the same with your Mama and each time I look at you, you revive the guilt I felt. And I didn't want you to ask me about your mother so I avoided you. So you can't bring up the topic of your Mama's where abouts. But believe me my child I care so much for you. If you will give me a chance perhaps we can fix things and we can be family again" Lorenzo uttered.
Lindsey cannot utter a word this is the moment she had prayed for the longest time. Her Papa acknowledging her importance in his life. She turned her back to her father then she ran as fast as she can. Joan saw her through the hospital's lounge. " Sister I think my friend needs me now if you'll excuse me " Joan " Go ahead Ms. Joan. I'll pray for her " Sister  Benedict said. Joan smiled at the nun.

Lindsey's shoot for the movie came to an end. Three months of hard work is finally over. And all the cast are in awe as they for it's Premiere night. Despite the hustled and hurried time. Lindsey cannot take her thoughts away from matters regarding her mother. " You okay? Why you sad?" Yuri her CO actress who plays the love rival in their movie noticed as they are waiting the host to call their name in one of their T.V endorsement. " I'm fine " Lindsey replied shortly.
" OK" Yuri responds then smiled.
The following day a sponsor cosmetic brand gave each cast a gift certificate for a shopping spree at Louis Vuitton Tokyo.
When the rest of the pack's Jaw dropped for the treat. Lindsey was all smiles but unusually silent. Even Director Marumi noticed.
Two days before the premier night. Rain came together with her mother networks' President but the following day, Lindsey's so surprised that her Papa came with his wife and her two brothers. " Wow! We are complete " Leonard uttered when she met them at their hotel.
Thought Lindsey was very glad that finally her father presence is there in one of the most important milestone in her career she cannot set aside her resentment towards him.

" Why did Papa fooled me?" Lindsey asked " Perhaps he just wants to protect you then. Your welfare was his top priority. What will happen to you if gets prisoned? Your Papa cares for you so much " Aries States then he sipped some beer. They are here at a private Sauna resort owned by her leading man Kitaro. Her leading man's parents live just a few blocks down the hill. Their private Sauna resort is located on top of the hill.
Kintaro and His girlfriend Ichigo accompanied them here yesterday. But they leave early this morning for a vacation in Iberia in Spain. Kintaro's relatives were very accommodating. So she and Aries are having a good time.
" ahggg you are my Ally. Why are you defending Papa " Lindsey notice then she transferred at the opposite side of the gigantic tub. " Hey Mahal your so irrational. Sometimes we have to lie to protect the ones we love. Truth isn't favorable all the time. Alright " Aries said then moved beside her
" Goodness I Can't believe you are talking that way" She responds then looked towards the lamp post. " I'm sorry for this argument let us end it. So we can have a good time" Aries whispered as his warm lips kissed her earlobes. Lindsey can feel sensation climbed through her naked spine. Aries felt it too. He kissed his fiance at the nape. While Lindsey's hands gently caress his unshaven chin. " I love you " Aries hushed behind her. His hands quickly transferred to Lindsey's  perfectly arched waist.
A day after tomorrow Aries will have to leave after three days of stay in Japan. And she's alone again.

" What are your plans after your movie launch in New York?" Rain inquired. Today She and her Manager are having their lunch at a seaside restaurant. Rain came yesterday to have a negotiation with the Nikon Film Production. The film company that hired her for the lead role. In a coupe of days She and Kintaro will fly to New York for the movie launch.
As their movie had been acclaimed by critics. " Ahm I think. I have to stay here for a while? " Lindsey " Hmmm pardon Lindsey what do you mean?" Rain " I want to establish audience here. Widen my horizon and be better in my craft " Lindsey " What? Are you out of your mind? Two endorsements are waiting for you in Philippines you have a movie to make also. The offer is damn good for the movie " Rain " That movie is lousy and commercially demanded. It won't make an impact. It  makes me sick" Lindsey " Goodness it will be the next big thing. The research shows audience want that kind of movie a teen age romantic movie " Rain insisted " That's what I hate about it. It is superficial. I am an artist Rain not an actress and besides you Can't rule me. You can't be the boss all the time " Lindsey " All I want is the best for your career" Rain " But stop dictating me! I've been obedient to you for ten years, but this time well you give my freedom. After all I'm the talent here " Lindsey " Rain cannot utter a word to what Lindsey said. Lindsey is her top talent.
Before their flight to New York. She received a gift check for shopping spree in Nordstrom in NYC. The cheque was from her Papa. He is making peace with her.
