Chapter 46
Sam's p.o.v
I walked into the dimly lit room, Willow trailing behind solomnly. Oliver sat at the table, eating a peanut butter and jelly. He turned around, smiling widely. His grin, however, faded as he saw our solemn aura, also not seeing his mom. He jumped down and waddled up to us, frowning.
"Daddy," He said in greeting as I squatted down.
"Oliver..." I trailed off, putting my face in my hands and choking down a sob.
"Where," Oliver paused, looking around naively, his lip quivering, "Where's Mommy?"
"S-she's not here, she went home" I answered quietly, watching him with sad eyes.
"Home?" Oliver responded, tilting his head in the way Eden used to, "The bunker?"
"No, baby," I sniffed, taking him into my arms, "Not the bunker."
...
"Sam," A rough voice called out to me.
My head snapped up to the man's voice. He gave me a sympathetic look, putting a hand on my shoulder. Garrett stepped forward, his usually wild hair, greased back, his leather jacket traded for a black suit.
"It's hard, I know," He said, "Believe me I know."
"I don't know what to do without her," I whispered, not being able to raise my voice in fear of breaking down.
"You have a kid," He started, "You take care of him. He'll give you hope."
He looked over to Oliver, who was standing in a suit, crying. Christine was squatted next to him, hugging him gently. I looked away quickly, tears forming in my eyes. I nodded, taking his advice to heart.
Walking over to Dean and Cass, I watched their sad faces as Christine comforted Oliver. Dean looked to me, his eyes filled with unshed tears. His head turned to the car, where I didn't want to think what was in the back seat.
"Do you think she'd want this?" Dean questioned quietly, "Being left out in the wild?"
"I believe she would," Castiel answered softly.
"It just feels weird not to burn her bo-" He stopped, choking down a sob, "To burn it."
"I'm afraid she's not making a reappearance either way," Marie's soft voice finalized sadly, "She was a good person. I liked her, it's a damn shame."
Everyone had shown up, from the gang to hunter, to her old paramedic friend Leo, and his wife with their newborn baby. I guess Eden had affected all of us. I looked around the dense forest that was sparsely crowded with humans. Not a bird chirped, there were no noises. A soft wind blew the leaves and I knew it was time.
"It's time," I whispered, getting their attention.
Dean nodded, trudging up to the back seat of the impala. He opened the door slowly, refusing to look in the seat. I walked up, averting my eyes. I let out a quiet sob as I wrapped my arms under the cold, stiff body.
I picked it up like I always did whenever she was hurt. I looked straight ahead, refusing to make eye contact with anyone as tears fell down my face. I only looked down when I heard a soft whimper, making my eyes widen. I bit my lip harshly when I saw that it was only Oliver, who was now standing next to me. He looked up at the body, sobbing.
