'Hi Catherine', he said gently, his smile uncertain.

'Piss off Aiden', Carla chimed in.

'No one was talking to you, Carla', he said not taking his eyes off me.

'Fuck you', Carla shouted aggressively, stepping in between him and me, 'you need to get your ugly white ass out of here, you had your chance with her and you blew it'

For a moment his eyes left mine and stood firm against the stare of Carla. 'Why don't you go sit your black ass in the back of the bus'.

'Oh no you didn't ', she screamed and as her arm pulled back as though she was about to hit him, I pounced on her grabbing her arms.

'Leave it Carla, please...', I begged her. She struggled at first, then relaxed, maintaining aggressive eye contact with him.

I pushed my way in front of Carla. 'What do you want, Aiden?'

He took a moment, trying desperately to push his aggression aside, so he could converse with me in a more appeasing manor.

'I just wanted to say....., that I tried to get your bag back for you', he said as his eyes roamed down me, 'and I wanted....to say'.

He was distracted. I looked down and Monica's coat I was wearing had opened up, exposing more flesh than I was ready to display, especially to him, I grabbed the coat, covering myself. 'Get lost Aiden, I don't want to speak to you'.

'But I.......'

'Just get lost Aiden'.

His face turned sour and dejected, he gave one last aggressive stare in Carla's direction and stormed past us.

It shouldn't have, but a sadness drifted through me and I was already missing him, even if he was an ass. I watched him go, hoping he would glance back, he didn't.

'Let's go', Carla said, gripping my wrist a little too firmly.

I didn't complain and allowed her to tug me in the direction of the changing room. Gemma followed closely behind.
