As I sat and urinated, I couldn't help think how fortunate Gemma was living in this house. It was massive in comparison to mine, even the bathroom, was bigger than my bedroom and probably around the same size as mum's. They managed to fit a separate shower and bath tub in there, with room to spare, not like mine, all shoved in where ever it could fit, you could almost wash your hands, while sitting on the toilet, in my house.
I finished and washed my hands, as I stepped back in the corridor I could hear Gemma's mum on the stairs telling the boys to calm down.
I met Mrs Frederick at the top of the stairs, took the tray from her and thanked her. She just smiled, stroked my face and said it was her pleasure. I took them back to Gemma room, Gemma was standing at the doorway, with a broom stick, looking as though she was ready to commit GBH.
She hurried me in and pushed the door shut. 'Help me', she said referring to the chest of drawers which she intended on putting in front of the bedroom door.
I didn't want to argue with her, she looked really determined, so I put the tray down on her bedside table and helped her. The chest of drawers were heavier than I expected. I guess I was just used to the cheap equivalent.
Once we had the drawers in place, we sat down on the bed together, with our cookies and juice.
'Come on then, tell me what they did', I asked, keen to understand what was so bad that she had to cage herself in her own room.
'Urgh....from the time I got home, those two idiots have been running around like they're on drugs. I went to my room and found they'd been jumping all over my bed, emptying my drawers out, they were even going through my computer'
'You don't have it password protected?'
'No...after all my room is my room. Well it used to be'
'Why are they here anyway? I thought they only came round on weekends'.
'Aunty Edith has a Yoga class', she said her name as though it was a dirty word and I had to say, I couldn't blame her, 'she seems to be finding excuses to palm them off more often'.
'Did you tell your mum what they did?'
'Yeah, straight away. She called them over and made them apologize'
'And they did?', I sounded surprised.
'Yeah, they like it here and mum's always threatening them with not being able to return, if they don't do as she says. I wish for once they wouldn't. So they apologized, but soon as mums back was turned they started pulling out a whole lot of my knickers out of their pockets and had me chasing them, but as I would chase one, the other would be back in my room, taking something else. So I barricaded myself in here'.
I was painfully attempting to hold back my laughter.
'Don't laugh', she said, breaking out in giggles. 'It's stupid, isn't it? But they are so annoying. Anyway, enough of me, did your dad turn up?'
