We found the girls sitting against a wall, in the student car park. I was surprised to see Carla there too. For two reasons, firstly Carla usually struggled to get in on time, she kept insisting she was only late because she had a Caribbean reputation to keep up and they were never in a hurry for anything. Secondly, because we were so close I had expected her to be with Gemma, ensuring I knew what had happened.

When they saw Gemma and I approach, they looked shamed and worried, I guessed they were concerned about my reaction to the footage of my streak being spread around the college.

'You okay?', Carla asked, as I approached.

'Yeah, it's cool', I lied, I hate lying and I hate when people lie to me. My mum once told me that when the Europeans first went to the Americas the Indians there, didn't know the concept of lying, which was why the Europeans were able to steal their lands away from them so easily. 'Gemma filled me in'.

'It was my fault', Monica surprised me by saying, I showed my boyfriend Curtis and he passed it on to a couple of friends.

'I forwarded it to Tanya and Michelle', Carla added, the two girls were seated there also, nodding their heads, 'I didn't think you'd mind'

'I think we're all guilty of showing someone else. It's 'cause you look so damn gorgeous', Pat said.

I appreciated the compliment, but I'd have preferred that it came from one of the other girls, that way I wouldn't feel as though the words weren't laced with cynicism.

'It's done now', I said and added diplomatically, 'I guess I'm the one to blame for doing it in the first place'

'You're not, we pushed you. But I have to agree with Pat, you do look gorgeous', Jane said, replaying the video clip on her phone, Monica leaned over looking at it.

'Anyway, what happened with you and Jack last night', Pat asked steering the conversation's direction.

I wasn't sure how to answer her and knew I had to think, before I spoke, in case something came out that wasn't expected. Luckily, before I had a chance to say anything, Carla answered for me.

'We've already spoken about it, last night, she's still working on it. Aren't you, Catherine?'

I nodded. Pat looked at me suspiciously. I braced myself, ready for the difficult questions, she was about to ask. Fortune struck a second time, when Michelle changed the subject again.
