'What about him, how do you rate him, Monica?', Pat asked.

We all looked over to see who Pat was referring to. It was Curtis, Monica's boyfriend taking a shortcut through the car park.

'Twenty, obviously', Monica responded, with a blushed grin.

I remembered the first time we had all sat there rating boys, Monica had given Curtis a four that time. Since then his ratings had continuously risen.

'Girls, I'm gonna catch up with you later', Monica said and walked over to greet him, he gave her a peck on the lips and she clung hold of his arm, as though it was a large fish she had recently reeled in and wanted to ensure it didn't get away.

'Ah, young love', Sherry said

'It won't last', Carla blurted out, then acted as though her words had slipped out of her mouth, 'sorry about that'.

Michelle, Pat and Jane found it amusing and subtly giggled, Sherry however wasn't amused.

'You can be so cynical Carla', Sherry bit back, looking upset. She grabbed her bag off the floor, 'I'm off, I'll catch up with you all later'

Carla looked in my direction shrugged her shoulders and smiled. A picture of innocence. To be fair, Sherry usually left after Monica departed, she always had an excuse and that day Carla provided her with one.

As Sherry walked off, I realized that this could be my opportunity to speak to her in private, about the events on Saturday.

'I'll go check she's okay', I said, picking up my discarded bag.

Some of the girls looked at me with surprise, my focus was on Jane who showed some understanding of what I was about to do.

'She'll be fine, leave her', Pat said

'Yeah, she'd have forgotten about it, by time we see her again', Carla added.

'No, Catherine you should go, just in case', Jane surprised the others, by saying. I thought maybe they were more surprised that Jane was allowing me to go and console Sherry, instead of doing so herself. Nearly, every girl had experienced Jane's sympathetic ear.

'I'll come with you', Gemma said reaching for her bag.

'No, I'll see you in class in a few minutes, keep a seat for me', with that I ran off in pursuit of Sherry, ensuring Gemma had little time to attempt to decipher why I wanted to be alone.
