Chapter 5

It had taken about a month to get used to everything. Having a roof over my head, not hearing gunfire throughout the night bugged me, it was also so new. Almost every morning I woke up with this gut guilt feeling that I had this to force it to go away every morning and it sucked. I felt bad for those left to fend for them self's in Pearl city, that was left in ruin. and left to rot with people still inside of it with nowhere to go. 

Mea and jack had taught me a great deal about technology here in the U.S. It was confusing at first because of all the interfacing that they had, after a while, it got easier to look into things and do things with barely a touch of my fingertips. What made it useful as it was super easy to hack into Blackburn industries mainframe. But still, Mea didn't like me using it because I was really good, too good. that's what Jack had told me. So instead they got me a phone. I found it completely useless, but greatly jack had downloaded some games so it wouldn't be as useless. I still found no point in it.

2 months past since Mea had taken me in and finally chosen that it was good for me to start school. My first day of school finally came which I was not ready for but also kinda excited for it. My uniform was just a simple skirt, the classic white button up shirt for some reason everyone had. and put on my zip-up hoodie that the Jack had gifted me when he took me to the wall for the first time. When I looked at my self-something was just missing. I put on over the knee socks to keep warm and ankle booties. Weird name for shoes.  

When I wet downstairs Mea had the Tv going and it had Blackburn headquarters in the back round. I frowned and rolled my eye's. It had been a more then 4 months ago we had made the connection between the forces in pearl and Blackburn. 

" last night one of Blackburn industries warehouses was broken into last night it is unclear what was stolen" the news lady started " 2 men were hospitalized after police showed up after the silent  alarms went off just after midnight" 

Then it went to traffic. I pulled out my phone and typed in the group chat number. To my surprise, they hadn't been much active. 

' anyone watch the news?' I asked. putting my phone away 

" well guys almost 7:15 let's go" Mae Yelled from the top of the stairs " Jack lock the front door behind you " 

Jack threw me my almost empty backpack " come on"

I followed them out the car and drove off. In my jacket pocket, I felt the phone buzz from the multiple texts going off at once. 

' who hasn't seen the news?' Sage replied 

' no. I don't care what the media thinks' Jay joined in. 

' no, I haven't' Alex also joined 

' Blackburn was robbed last night' 

' well, I'll have jay and sage look into it. hopefully, we can go in and take a look and maybe go public with the connections' Alex said 

' maybe not go public until we have enough evidence that there is connection' I added 

' the kid is right, if we go public now they'll make sure to cover their tracks' 

' keep me updated please' I asked before I shut my phone off and looked at the giant red brick school in front of me.

We pulled up in the teachers parking lot in the back of the school. We followed Mae in, she unlocked her office it was surprisingly modern for a school office. She had a tv on the wall, a glass desk with interface computer and pictures of her family on the wall.
