chapter 16: back to pearl

we took off from the Aoran hangers to go back to pearl, going back was hard for everyone. I looked around at the others most of everyone was sleeping​ or doing something but Jay was just staring at the wall.

The note in my hand rolled​ in my hand from Fighting with it so much. Lryia's voice played in my head ' read this when your alone'. I got up and locked myself in the bathroom. When I opened​ the note, I just looked at it with wide eyed one of what it Said. One of our own did this made the terms what​ they are, all the lives that was lost.
' Jay has been behind everything since that day, he's in some sort of secret group. What ever you do don't trust him, don't tell him anything'

Jay i've known him for 15 years now, and he's been in the business for 20 years. I sat down on the seat taking the​ news in, wondering​ what our play would be now. A few tears went down my face, my trust just left me leaving me with nothing other than to trust Behind.
I sat down in the cargo hold and light a vegetable cig that let had made us. I slid down the wall of the​ hold wanting to break down from the news i was just got. My whole body just wanted to stay put not going wanting​ to anything or go anywhere. After I smoked and cried for a minute, i was able to go back up and sit down with the others.

Jay looked at me with curious eyes when I sat down and some​ of the others were worried. I pulled out my phone from my bag and looked through​ the camera roll. So many of lryia​ when we first found her, now to think of it she's aged a bit and got more mature since taking her lighting role.

One picture has caught​ my eye a selfie with a lighting bolt over her left eye. another thing was that she didn't look like a 15 year old, well with looks yes but her mind is wise as they come. I took out a mini portable printer and printed a few pictures.
" Don't worry lryia I'm coming home for you" I wispered

I was her only father figure​ she's had in months ever since her fathers death. Now that we where going to back to pearl and it just felt wrong leaving her behind

" hey Alex you alright?" jay asked
" ya, ya just lost in thought"
" well we landed and we have assignments​ in a few hours"
" ya just give me a minute" I said,collecting my things.
" so hows lryia?" he asked
my head shot up at Jay, I knew he was young for the military and immature as well " why you ask?"
" well she seemed pissed or torn up when we took off but why was she so pissed at him.

I walked out feeling​ proud and then the feeling​ was lost with pure hate. Walking into the main hub was some what​ comforting and felt more safe being here. I found our living quarters, where everyone else was unpacking.
" oh alex is here" Ty shouted
" hey guys, same room"
" ya" Ty pointed at the door to the left. " what about the​ room behind me?"
" no one goes in it am I clear!" I said with a sturm voice
" yes sir"

After everyone had gone down to the dinning hall, I went into the room where I deemed it off limts too everyone. I looked at the bed, it looked the same when we left last time. The smell of blood still lingered in the air, cigarette smoke and cheep shampoo. I sat down a flash a memories​ came flooding back

After looking around for a bit, I laid down on the bed. A gun still remained from Lryia's first few sleepless nights here, the safety wasn't on and bullets.

The next few days where hard, adjusting to the hub again and more training with new combat​ gear. I kept a close eye on Jay. Then we got our assignments​, the​ same as always get or course it was​ the most dangerous and being in the​ field days or weeks at a time.

The first few times we went out it was calm, way too calm. We drove passed The office building a few times and nothing changed, some of the spots where blood stained from when lryia threw guys out the window which was quiet the sight.

We all climbed into the Humvee​ in the garage. Soon we drove out, we passed where​ lryia exploded a field of tanks. I smiled and held on too my gun tighter. The humvee pulled into pearl city that was once a town of bright lights was reduce​d to nothing but rubble​. It was quiet only for a few minutes and it was nice.

The humvee in in front​ of us exploded and flipped. We came to a hult and ran out to go look at the damage. All of the​ members were dead, or dying​. I pulled out a man out of the car. Once I pulled his mask off. tears spilled as i held my childhood friend in my arms then his last breath faded away.
" Alex we need to go, now!" ty grabbed my shoulder
" We cant just leave them here!"
" there are a pack of tanks heading our way"
" well we can all fucking die ty, we've only​ been out here 3 months and jim is fucking dead!!"
" we'll die too if we don't get moving!!"
" where can we go!" jay yelled
" I know a place" I said.

We left the humvees behind and walked 4 blocks north to an subway station. The tunnels looked something from 17th century. I looked around for the entrance and finally found it.
" hey Jay go stand guard for a minute" I asked
" sure thing"

I hurried and punched in the code for the door to open. We all rushed in and Jay was the last one in. The walk down another tunnel was dark and a bit nerve raking. Ty found the door to this so called 'safe house'. when the lights turned on, it was a mini base.

We all sat around looking at equipment​. Some how I the computer's to work and a channel up to talk to lryia.

" hey Alex how is pearl?" lryia asked
" quiet but not so much anymore "
" you read you know what"
" Ya I did...." I looked down
" Im sorry Alex "
" It' s fine we have other things to take care of"
" okay look if you ever need anything just give me a call okay"
" don't worry I will....... Wait hows Mea?" i asked
" her condition changed while you been gone " Lryia looked down
" to what?"
" doctors aren't sure yet" Lryia said
" okay, well i should get going now. Tell lexi And sean I said hi"
" I will" I was about to turn the link off when lryia said something.
" hey stay safe okay"
" okay"
I walked away from the computer, Jay is going to die......
