Owen was certain he hadn't signed up for this.

As he watched the animated mermaid travel the ins and outs of being a 16-year-old girl as well as then adapting to having legs, well, yes. He was more than certain this wasn't part of the deal.

But, it was family night, as declared by Luke and Sean. They'd included Jessica tonight as Erica was working and they'd managed to get Sang away from her house for a while. He supposed it was actually family weekend, as they had managed to survive another 3 weeks at the hellhole they called a school and it was Martin Luther King Jr day on Monday so they had a 3-day weekend and they still needed to be on their toes as they were still, somewhat, being shadowed and Jessica was going to be with them all weekend.

He and Sean had only meant to stop by to have dinner with them but somehow, now, a few hours after dinner, he was starting to suspect that his best friend had an ulterior motive and hand in the plans for this evening. And weekend.

Because was it really any surprise that Sean had failed to mention he'd gotten the entire weekend off and was looking forward to trying to just be the 19-year-old kid he was? Owen supposed not everyone acted older than their age like he did. He let his gaze slide away from the movie to where Sang sat on the couch, sitting in rapt attention between Jessica and Luke.

He needed to be more mindful of how sheltered she had been. There were so many experiences and even simple things that seemed like a no brainer such as movies that she hadn't been allowed to have or watch as she'd grown up. As serious as their mission was, it was more important that they try to allow her to regain some of the childhood she missed out on. He knew his family was more than capable of helping with that. Several of them still enjoyed water gun and balloon fights. He smothered a snort. Most of them, well, all of them would actually be the better correction.

He was pulled out of his thoughts when Sean elbowed him hard in the ribs, pointing discretely at the screen as a song began to play, mouthing the words at him and wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.

There you see her

Sitting there across the way

She don't have a lot to say

But there's something about her

And you don't know why

But you're dying to try

You wanna kiss the girl (kiss the girl)

Owen felt his ears redden and he ripped his gaze away from Sean and tried to be discreet when he gazed across the room at Sang, sitting there on the couch.

Luke looked away from the TV, staring at Sean and his song and dance before gazing at Owen. His eyes lit up and Owen softened his posture, sinking down more in the chair he'd chosen, hoping that Jessica and Sang wouldn't pick up on the nonsense being flouted about by Sean as Luke started to use sign language at him to, well, subtitle, the song for him and Owen felt the heat of a sudden rush of color to his face.

The kissy face that Luke made, certainly didn't help and he wasn't encouraged any more about discretion as his gaze swung back to Sean, only to find that his allegedly bestest buddy in the whole wide world had picked up on it and was also filling in musical gaps with a combination of kissy lips and fish lips.

Owen couldn't help the snicker that escaped him, the only break in his mask that allowed the two hooligans to be even more encouraged about his response and to his dismay, they started to actually sing aloud to the song.
