Everyone except Emma and Jacob sat down at the table. Emma came in and Jacob was behind her she sat down and Bronwyn handed her, her belt which she tightened. Olive promised herself that she would keep Jacob away from Emma. Jacob sat down in the chair next to Emma. "Hey!" Millard exclaimed. "Millard go put some clothes on! Polite persons do not take their supper in the nude," Miss Peregrine said. "Oh alright," he said getting up. "You can sit here Jake," Olive said pointing to the empty chair next to her.

Jacob politely shaked his head no, then sat down next to Emma. Enoch glared. Horace looked over at Enoch and saw his glare. "Look at Enoch!" Horace exclaimed. Everybody looked at Enoch. "He's jealous!" Horace added. "Why would I be jealous," Enoch said leaning forward. "Olive can go marry Jake for all I care," he snapped. Olive couldn't believe it. She lowered her head to try not to cry. Fiona saw Olive. "Don't be rude Enoch! She doesn't want to! She's just excited to have a guest!" Fiona exclaimed.

"Nobody is marrying anybody," Miss Peregrine said. "Now eat up before your food gets cold," Miss Peregrine said. Hugh opened his mouth to put his spoon inside but instead bees flew out. "Ugh," Olive said swatting them away. "Hugh where's your net?" Emma asked. Hugh pulled out his net while everyone was swatting the bees away. He put the net on and began ingesting his bees. One landed on Miss Peregrine's finger and she blew it in the direction of Hugh. Hugh ingested the last bee then continued eating.

"Claire? Why aren't you eating?" Miss Peregrine asked. "She's embarrassed in front of Jake," Hugh explained. "Don't be," Jacob said to Claire. Claire smiled and Miss Peregrine gave her a wink. Claire smiled and picked up the chicken leg. She lifted up her hair revealing her second mouth. She gave her second mouth the chicken leg and her second mouth ate it till it was just the bone left. She placed it on her plate and Miss Peregrine grabbed a napkin.

She lifted up Claire's hair and wiped the corners of her second mouth. "Must be strange for you Jake!" Fiona exclaimed. "Meeting your grandfather's friends," Fiona added. "Visiting another century!" She added. "Are there spaceships in your time Jake? Like the Flash Gordon books? " Olive asked. "Now, now, Olive. What did I say about asking questions? We don't discuss the future here. We enjoy living in the good old here and now," Miss Peregrine said ripping off meat off of her chicken and eating it.

"So Jake what's your peculiarity?" Horace asked. "Oh, I'm not peculiar," Jacob said. "And that, my friends, is why he will not be staying with us..." Enoch spoke. "No matter how hard we try to persuade him," Enoch added. "We've spoken about this. Jake is just visiting," Miss Peregrine said. "He might want to stay," Hugh said. "Don't you want to stay, Jake?" Olive asked. Enoch rolled his eyes. "Tonight? Or..." Jacob asked. "Forever. You should stay forever!" Claire exclaimed. "Why would he if he doesn't have to?" Enoch asked. "He can live out there, grow older... have a good time instead, " Enoch added pointing outside. "He'll leave, just like his grandfather did," Enoch added.

Emma slammed her fork on the table and unbuckled herself and stormed out of the room. "Emma!" Miss Peregrine exclaimed. Emma continued to exit the room. "Excuse me," Millard said brushing past Emma. "Where's she going?" He asked. "That wasn't nice, Enoch!" Miss Peregrine exclaimed. "You know perfectly well why Abe left us," Miss Peregrine said. "To join the army," Hugh said. "And then he met a lady, and had a nice wedding cake...... And a lovely little baby," Bronwyn added.

"Children," Miss Peregrine said. "I know you'd all like a new friend... but I'm sure Jake has plenty of his own back in Florida," Miss Peregrine added. Just then the phone rang. "I think you should all get ready for movie time while I answer that," Miss Peregrine added. "But you always let us stay for it," Claire said. Miss Peregrine looked at everyone before heading towards the phone in the next room. Miss Peregrine picked up the phone. "Hello this is Abe," Abe said into the receiver. "How is everyone?" Abe asked.
