In another part of the woods, a man walked on a path, trying to find his old home in the village.

Aman walked with his small bag of belongings, carrying a red jacket with a pin wrapped in a scarf. He then noticed someone up in a tree.

"Excuse me!" He called out. The one in the tree looked down. "My apologies for disturbing you, but what are you doing?"

"I'm trying to find my old village," The one in the tree answered. He came down from it, a man in black.

"May I come along?"

"Why?"

"I wish together back to my family."

"Me too." The two men went back to the path but were cut off by multiple fallen tree and branches.

"I don't recall the woods so broken down."

"You came here before?" The man in black asked.

"Yes many times with my son?"

"Where is he?"

"I'm hoping he's in the village. That's why I'm going back. To go find my son and wife."

"I'm trying to find my daughter." Before they continued their conversation, when rumbling was heard nearby. It made the ground shake and caused more trees to fall.

The man with the red jacket pushed his acquaintance out of the way of a falling tree. Before he could move away, it fell on him. More tree fell nearby, causing him to get caught in a tree like a cage. His arms couldn't move, neither could his legs. The rumbling stopped for a moment, and the man in black noticed his wounded friend.

"Are you alright?" He asked while trying to push the tree off him.

"Yes," he said weakly. As the man in black tried to free his companion, the rumbling returned, and they turned to see a giant coming their way.

"Forget about me!" The man in the tree said. "Run!"

He did run but promised that he'll return. He looked back and saw the giant coming to where he was.

The man stopped when he came to a cliff. He looked back, seeing the giant move away from him. The ground shook, causing him to lose his balance. Before he could grab onto a branch, he fell backward and tumbled off the edge of the cliff.

Carlos walked around aimlessly, as Dude followed him. He ran to his home, to get his bag with his invention journal and went into the woods, knowing the Giant would come for him.

As the young lad tried to figure out a plan on what to do, he heard someone calling for help. He looked around trying to find the one who needed assistance. His eyes laid on a shiny pin near a fallen tree.

Dude ran to it, and Carlos ran after him. They both saw a man trapped in a pile of fallen trees. He came up to him and tried to move them off the victim. When he did, the trees began to tumble inward. When Carlos stopped, it stopped.

"If I move one, it'll all come crashing down," Carlos told him.

"I can see that my life will come to an end soon." The gentleman said weakly. "I need you to carry out my last wish."

"What is it?"

"See that red jacket and pin?" He weakly pointed to the items nearby. Carlos picked it up and examined it. "I want you to give them to my son?"

"Where is he?"

"He should be in the village."

"I'm sorry to tell you this, but it's destroyed. I went there to get here."

"Look for a man with a red hat, and a snake pin. It looks like this o e but a bit older." The man's breathing became shallow, but Carlos asked one last question.

"Can you tell me his name?"

"He name is," he took in one last breath, before saying his last word. "Jay,"

*****************************

Carlos looked at the man who passed away before him. He looked at the scarf wrapped jacket with the pin holding it together.

Carlos looked at his dog, who ran to a cliff. He ran after him, muttering to himself to get his dog a leash. When he stopped, he looked down to see a man on the ground, his back on the ground.

The boy looked around and saw a tall tree leading to the bottom of the cliff. He carefully climbed onto it, caring Dude in his arm and the package in his bag, and climb down the tree.

When he reached the bottom, he found the man with his eyes closed. He wore black, his hair combed nicely.

Carlos placed his hand by the man's nose. When he did, the man grabbed his arm and whispered something. The boy was about to run but instead leaned down to hear.

"The book," he said quietly. "Give the book to my daughter." The man pointed to his coat, and the fellow opened it. He found a book inside his coat and pulled it out.

"Give it to my daughter," the man said again.

"What's her name?" The man took in a deep breath, before saying one last word.

"Mal," The man in black stopped breathing and shut his eyes. Carlos looked at the book, curious to see what was inside. Instead of opening it, he put it in his bag. He looked around, thinking of where to go from there when Maleficent surprised him when she landed right in front of him.

"I finally found you." She stated.

"And?" The boy questioned.

"And now I'm going to take you to the giant." Before Carlos could react, Maleficent grabbed his arms tightly and flew away. Dude, who was beside his best friend, ran and barked after the winged creature.
