Deep in the woods, Evie and Doug had planted a branch at the grave of her mother. Evie visited so often and wept so much, that her tears watered it until it became a magnificent tree.

Evie kneeled down in front of the blue and purple flowered tree in a small clearing in the woods, while Doug stood behind her. The petals slowly drifted through the wind, as Evie talked to her mother.

"Mother, I wish..." She paused and heard her mother's voice.

"What is it, my child and dear friend?" They both looked up and she her mom sitting in the tree. "Do you know what you wish? Make that very clear, then you shall have your wish."

The petals began to swirl around them with the wind, and they saw their ratty clothes were turning into the most beautiful of clothes they'd ever seen.

Doug now wore a dark purple suit, with a bow tie. His glasses disappeared, but he saw things just as clear. Evie's servant dress changed from its ragged state to a beautiful blue gown, with ocean blue shoes. When the wind went away, and they looked at their new clothing, Evie and Doug both smiled.

"Thank you, mother!" Evie said. She smiled and ran to the festival.

"Thank you, miss," Doug said to the tree. "I'll make sure she'll get what her heart desires."

"Doug, come on!" Evie yelled out. He ran to her, and they made their way to the King's Festival.

In another part of the woods, Jane continued her way to her Granny's, when she found herself in an unusual part of the woods.

Jane walked on the path, eating the treats and bread from the basket when she heard someone call her.

"Good day, little girl." She turned to see a wolf leaning on a tree.

"Good day, Mr. Wolf," Jane said as she continued to walk and eat.

"Where are you going in such a hurry?" He asked as he came up to her. She stopped and turned to him.

"On my way to Granny's."

"And what is in your basket?" He asked with a smile.

"Some bread, for my grandmother. So she'll have something good to make her strong."

"Where does she live?"

"She lives near the edge of the woods." Jane turned her head to the direction, while the wolf quickly sniffed the basket of food. "Her house is inside a grand oak tree."

She turned back to the animal and continued her way down the path. The wolf watched her, thinking of how easy it was to have found his meal.

"Why are you in such a rush? The sun won't set for hours, take your time."

"My mother to always me to never stray from the path or be mislead."

"But please, take your time to enjoy the scenery. The birds are singing so sweetly." He thought of his plan. First her grandmother, then her.

"Mother said, 'straight ahead'."

"But look at what you're ignoring." He quickly pushed her to a small field of flowers. She kneeled at them, looking at their beauty.

"I suppose a small delay won't hurt anyone. Granny will like a fresh bouquet."

"For Granny." The wolf said, handing her a flower.

"Goodbye, Mr. Wolf," Jane said, then went back to the field.

"Goodbye, little girl. And hello." He climbed onto a large rocked, before letting out a howl.
