Mal, Jay, and Carlos made it back to their friends, who were all waiting. All were very impressed to see Carlos's invention, especially Jane.

"This is so cool!" Jane beamed. She looked closer at the details of Carlos's suit, not realizing how close she was to his eyes.

"Like you," Carlos said, looking into the girl's eyes. He realized what he told her and quickly stuttered "Like you- your bow."

"Thank you," Jane replied. Mal saw what was happening between the two and couldn't help but smile.

"Please excuse my interruption," Ben said, starling their gaze at each other. "but we need to get our plan into action."

"Carlos, you'll go up the tree," Mal explained to the boy but then turned the thief. "Jay, you will go with him and so will I."

"I will stay here with everyone else," Ben explained.

"I can go up with you too," Doug said, "That way it'll be an even amount of teams."

"That can work." Jay agreed. They all agreed and each quickly gave each other a hug. Carlos, who was holding onto Dude, handed the dog to Jane.

"Be careful," Ben whispered into Mal's ear.

"I will."

The four went up the tallest tree they could find, while everyone else waited near the tar pit.

"I can see them in that tree," Jane said while pointing to up. They all looked and saw their friends climbing up. Jane smiled then frowned. Ben noticed this as she sat on a log.

"What's wrong?" Ben asked.

"I think my granny and mother will be upset with me."

"Why?" Evie asked joining in on the conversation.

"They always told me to make them proud. I don't think somebody will do that."

"Not just somebody." Audrey told her, "A giant who did a lot of harm."

"But a giant is just a really big person," Jane said looking at all of them. "Can't we show forgiveness?"

"Mother can't guide you now," Evie told her. "Now you're on your own."

"We are next to you," Ben said. "You're not alone. No one is ever alone."

"I wish..."

"Who knows what your mother will say," Audrey told the little girl. "Nothing is clear. You may have lost your way."

"But you're not alone. No one is alone. Believe us."

"Everyone makes mistakes," Evie told her. "Father and mothers."

"Witches can be right. You can decide what right and good."

"Just remember someone is on your side. Someone else is not."

"Maybe we forgot, they aren't alone," Jane said. "No one is ever alone."

"Remember that someone will always be with you."

Jane smiled, feelings some comfort from her new friends. They smiled as well, also feeling calm. It didn't last long, because they then felt and heard the Giant's footsteps.

As Mal, Jay, Carlos, and Doug climbed the tree, the boy felt a bit excited to try out his invention.

"Be alert," Mal said to Carlos. He nearly lost his balanced but caught himself.

"I'm good. This is easier than a beanstalk."

"How far up are we going?" Doug asked.

"Carlos will go near the top of the tree while we will stay near him, making sure the giant lady won't see us."

"I can't for my mother hear we killed the giant!" Carlos said eagerly.

"There's something you need to know," Mal said. "It's about your mother." Carlos stopped as did Jay and Doug.

"What?" He questioned.

"I'm sorry to tell you this. She didn't make it."

Carlos was silent, for a moment refusing to believe his mother was gone. He asked as his voice quivered, "Was she killed by the giant?"

"No, she was actually fighting with the giant. She was doing it to protect you. When she didn't stop, the steward roughly pushed her to the ground."

"He'll pay for this!" Carlos roared out and continued climbed upward.

"Carlos, no!"

"After we kill the giant, I'll kill him!"

"You can't do that," Jay told the boy.

"What he did was wrong." Carlos said, tears forming in his eyes. "He should be punished."

"It's not as easy as that."

"There's are wrong thing and rights things to do," Mal told him as she sat on a large branch next to Carlos. Jay and Doug sat by them, carefully keeping balance.

"Only you can decide on what true," Doug told him.

"People make mistakes. Fathers and mother. They hold onto their own, thinking they're alone."

"Giants can be good. Only you can decide what's right and wrong." Jay said.

"Just ten someone will always be with you and by your side," Mal said.

"Others will not."

"Maybe we forgot that they aren't alone. No one is alone."

"Just remember that you won't ever be alone."

Carlos gave a small smiled, and so did Mal, Jay, and Doug. He felt calm, still sad that his mother was killed. After a brief moment of silence, they heard loud thumping. They looked to see more trees crashing down to the ground.

The moment of silence was over.
