Chapter 6

"Go away Xander." I say not opening the door anymore than it already is. "Im here for my father, since I am the Alpha and your asking for my pack's help." I silently curse to myself and open the door.

"Go wait in my office." He walks in like he owns the place with a smirk on his face. Oh how I just wanna smack that smug little smirk right off. "You know we need to talk." He doesn't even ask, he just states it like im just gonna agree.

He smiles while I glare daggers into his head. His gaze drops to my shoulder and his smile falls. "What is that?" He grabs my arm and moves my sleeve. The mark on my neck that haunts me visible clear as day.

I shake him off and he growls in frustration, trying to grab me again. "Go in my office now." I can feel the memory's flooding back as I swallow that anger forming like a storm inside.

He notices my anger and grows confused. "Why are you upset?" Now it's my turn to look at him confused. I just gave him a Queen command and he completely ignored it.

"How did you do that? How did you ignore my command?" I back away from him. "What? I don't know. I saw you were upset and I just didn't listen." He looks as confused as me.

Sam walks in with Aiden, Henry, my father, and Danny behind a second later. I clear my throat and place a gentle smile on my face to hide my growing anger.

"Aiden, brief Alpha Henry and Xander on our plan. Im going for a run." Before anyone can question me I take off towards the woods.

My wolf begs to be let out so I go behind a tree and strip from my clothes. I close my eyes, imagining my golden wolf and when I open my eyes, Im her.

I take off running away from my pack. I run towards the end of my territory and past the guards standing watch. I'm in free land, away from my pack, my duties, my mate.

I slow down when I reach the waterfall I've visited so many times before. This is where I go when I'm upset or need to think. I stumbled upon it by accident last year and never told anyone.

It's so far out of pack territory, no one would think to find me here. I had been running for nearly two hours to get here. My father, Sam, Josh, everyone tried mind linking me several times but I just blocked them out.

Im laying down in my wolf form when I hear a branch snap. I instantly go on alert. I scan the area but see nothing. My wolf starts getting excited in my head and I roll my eye's. I lay back down knowing exactly who it is.

A few minutes later I hear steps coming from behind me. They're heavy steps so I know he's in his wolf form too.

I stand up, hearing him freeze, then I shift. "I know it's you Xander." I turn around when I hear the cracking of bones.

He's standing there with both mine and his clothes in his hands. He looks away and I take my stuff, getting dressed. "How'd you find me?"

"I had a few trackers follow your scent." We we're now fully clothed, well I was. He was still shirtless.

"Did they tell you the plan?" He nods and I just sit back down, my back facing him while I stare at the water.

He walks over and sits down next to me. A peaceful quiet settles around us and after a few minutes he decides to break it.

"Why'd you run?" I can hear the sadness in his voice. Im his mate and I ran from him. He probably thinks it's a form of rejection.

"You had questions that I didn't wanna answer, that I still don't wanna answer." He swallows a lump in his throat and looks up at me. Not really at me, more at the mark on my shoulder.

"Are you mated already?" I peek out of the corner of my eye and see him looking right at me. The worry clear in his eyes. I don't respond and I can see the heartbreak take over his face.

He clears his throat and stands up. "I see." He starts to walk away and I feel my wolf whine. "Im not mated, not technically."

I look over my shoulder and see he's just standing there, lost in thought. "Will you explain it to me."

"No, not now anyways." Is my simple answer as I stand and walk past him. He may be my mate, but I'm not gonna bring up sour memory's that I've locked away just for him. I don't want a mate so he'll just have to deal with it.
