Chapter 17

Angie's been in surgery for six hours now, everyone who was poisoned with wolfsbane is resting in different hospital rooms until it fully leaves their systems.

Lily's been asleep on my lap for the last two hours, I need to take care of pack business but I haven't had the heart to move her. "Xander, watch over Lily. I need to speak with Sam." He gently takes Lily off me and slides her onto his lap while I hesitantly leave. I hope she doesn't wake up while I'm gone.

"Sam." I grab Sam's attention from his post outside the hospital. "We need to talk about the packs security."

"I know, I think we should double it and add more watch posts on the outskirts." I think for a second before agreeing. "I think that's for the best. Can you go take care of that while I wait for news about Angie?"

"Of course." He heads off and I make my way back inside where I see Lily talking to Xander. "Hey cupcake, did you get some sleep?" I ask quietly as she crawls onto my lap. "Is my mommy ok?" She sniffles a little and I feel my heart sink. I know how she feels.

"I don't know, we have to wait just a little longer." A little longer turned out to be another three hours. When the doctor came out, me and Lily were both up before anyone else. "How is she?"

I hold Lily and she tightens her arms around my neck when the doctor hesitates. "She made it through surgery, but her healing has slowed down. We don't know why and if it doesn't pick up soon, she won't make it." I give Lily to Xander and make my way into the doctor's private office with him not too far behind.

"Is it silver?" I shut the door for more privacy. "No Alpha, it's something we haven't ever seen before. We're doing some testing, but..." He pauses and I get a little frustrated. "But what doctor."

"I think it might be celestial silver." Everything freezes around me. All I can hear is my heart beat. Celestial silver? That's impossible, its supposed to be an extinct element. The last time the kingdom saw a celestial silver attack was 10 years ago. When that witch who cursed me, killed my mom.

Is she back? No, she can't be, father had her killed. "Alpha? Alpha, are you alright?" I snap back to reality when I felt he doctor shaking my shoulders. I growl at his hands on my and he quickly retracts him.

I leave before he can question me, making my way down the hall, and pass Xander. "Alexis, where are you going?" He trys to stop me but I send him a warning growl. "I need to talk to my father." I leave the hospital and shift into my wolf for the first time in weeks.

I look for my father everywhere until I eventually find him at my home. I shift back and change into a long t-shirt on the ground. "Alexis, your okay." He pulls me into a hug and for a moment I forget what I was doing, but only for a moment.

"Father, we need to talk." I lead him to the living room and sit him down. "About what princess?" I sit in the arm chair next to the couch he's on before continuing. "About that night, the night mom died."

His small smile falls as sadness replaced it. "Why would we talk about that?" He gets a little angry and I grab his hand to calm him. "The witch that killed her, that cursed me, she's the only one who knew of celestial silvers existence, right?" He nods so I continue.

"And she's dead, right?" He avoids my question and stands up. "Why are we talking about this Alexis?" He gives a hard look while clenching his fists.

"Angie isn't healing. The doctor found traces of celestial silver in her wounds, but that's impossible because the only person who knew about it, is dead."

He begins to fold and unfold his hands in a nervous manner. "She is dead, right father?" I raise my voice and stand. "Don't raise your voice with me Alexis, I'm your father."

"Yes and I am the Queen, now answer me. Is she dead?" I use my Queen tone and he looks down in shame. "No."
