Alexis

"She's alive?" I say through clenched teeth and he stays quiet. "Why is she alive? You said you had her killed the night she attacked the royal castle."

He keeps quiet and I just get angrier. "You lied to me and let mom's killer walk free all these years. Thanks to you celestial silver is among the wolf race and a little girl is going to lose her mom."

He just stares at his feet. I open and close my fists, taking deep breathes to stay calm. "Why did you lie?"

"I knew you'd react like this, I didn't want you to be mad at me." He speaks quietly and avoids eye contact. "Why didn't you kill her?" I cross my arms, showing dominance.

"Honey, sit down. There's something I need to tell you." He sits on the couch, pulling me down with him. "The night your mother died, you died too."

He pauses to see my reaction, but I keep my face blank. "Henry was my Beta at the time and I put him in charge of the pack while me and your mom went out."

"Apparently a few wolves came to the castle seeking help and he didn't see them as a threat so he let them in." He fidgets with his hands and scratches his neck nervously.

"When he let his guard down, they doused him with wolfsbane, enough to kill him. Were lucky he's alive. They let in that evil witch and her friends, they waited for us to come home, and attacked."

"Jumped us by surprise. They held me and your mom down as a wolf brought you in. You were so small and fragile."

"We couldn't tell if you were breathing so your mom begged them to take her and leave you alone. What she didn't know was that you were already gone." His voice cracks a little and my look softens as he keeps speaking.

"They took her happily. They made me watch as she struggled in pain from the celestial silver that coursed through her veins, the mate bond causing me to feel her pain. I was useless with out my wolf so I couldn't do anything. I had to watch as she suffered, knowing the same happened to you. After they were done, the witch sent everyone away, but she stayed."

"I grabbed her and was about to kill her when she pointed to you. She said you were dead, but I could still save you. She offered a deal, she'd bring you back to life if I let her live. I was to let her walk out of the castle without a scratch and never to search for her. I took the deal."

"Well thanks to that deal, thousands might die. You should've killed that stupid witch and left me dead. You could've made Xander your heir, I mean he is King after all, he's my mate."

"Alexis, I'm sorry but there's no way I would ever have left you for dead. You were all I had left and I had a chance to save you."

"You were King. You should have been thinking about the big picture, my death or the death of thousands. The kingdom always comes first, you taught me that." He stays quiet and I let out a deep breath, pinching the bridge of my nose.

"I remember the pain." I say, barely above a whisper. "What?" He looks up, horrified. "I remember the pain of the celestial silver. She didn't just inject me, she tortured me. She got bored with waiting for you to get home."

"I'm so sorry Alexis." He trys to pull me into a hug, but I don't let him. "It's not your fault. It's mine. Xander was in the room sleeping with me. They wanted to hurt him." I laugh at the memory of me and Xander staying up and telling story's. We always had sleepovers when we were younger.

"They tried to hurt him, but I wouldn't let them. He was only in my room because I got scared and I knew if you found out I was scared, you'd be mad. I was supposed to be Queen one day, I was supposed to be fearless, and strong, not wimpy and scared of the dark."

"So I stood up to them, protecting him because I wanted to make you proud. I wanted to be a good Queen and a good Queen protects her kingdom. Xander was my friend and he was in trouble so I did my job."

"After everything, it went dark. I was so alone in the dark then, I saw mom. She told me everything was going to be okay and I woke up. I was in the hospital, you were passed out on a couch by my bed, and I was sore as hell. I never realized I was dead."

"I'm sorry I'm mad, but I know the pain of celestial silver, it's a hundred times worse than regular silver. I mean at least silver kills you fast, but with celestial silver, you die slowly. It burns through every cell in your body and it feels like it'll never end. I wouldn't even wish it on my worst enemy."

I spent that night up with my father, talking about my mom, that evil witch who ruined our lives, and ways on how to stop her if she really is back.

I wanted a chance to talk to Angie but she slept all night. The doctor promised to notify me when she did wake up though, I just hope she makes it.

Lily spent the night with me and Xander, Sam took care of the guards and sorted out the new shifts, they even searched for any trace of Blake, but found nothing.

The whole night I felt like I was being watched, I knew who it was, but I chose to ignore it. I know Blake and if he thinks he's gotten to me, it'll just boost his ego and make things worse.
