Chapter 16

I head outside to take the call while Xander sits back down on the couch. "Hello?" I answer my phone after the fourth ring, a deep voice that I know all to well answering.

"Hello Alexis." I tighten my grip around my phone and walk a little ways away from my front door to make sure Xander cant hear. "What do you want Blake?"

I keep walking down a little path in the woods, passing a guard every so often. "Well I want to be King, but I know that wont happen." He says a little angry.

"Why are you calling?" I stop once I realize I'm alone. "I cant wait to see you again. How's that mate of yours doing?"

"How do you know about Xander?" I go on high alert. "I have my ways darling. You know it's awfully dangerous being out alone especially when you can't smell."

I push off the tree I was leaning on and look around. "Where are you?" I scan the woods around me but see nothing. "You know I'm quite bored, wanna have some fun?"

"I know your definition of fun Blake, it's killing and I swear if you so much as poke a wolf in this pack, I will end you." I go deathly quiet, my wolf awakening.

"You know, you always were an angry little thing, but that mate of yours is so vulnerable, maybe I should pounce." My eyes widen and I start making my way back home as fast as I can. "Don't touch him."

He starts to laugh and I see my home come into view, a shadow moving in the window. I go to shout when Blake's voice stops me.

"Scream and I'll kill everyone in this pathetic pack." I freeze and bring the phone back to my ear. "You really think I'd go after an Alpha? You're dumber then I remember." I growl at his words.

"I've been watching you Alexis and there's something worse then killing your mate. Remember Lily?" My mind goes blank and I panic. "You wouldn't."

"Oh no I wont, I don't hurt children, but her dear mother on the other hand. Did you know she lost her father? Imagine the pain of losing a mother too, oh wait, you already know that pain." He hangs up and I mind link my four closest friends, Josh, Danny, Sam, and Xander, while making my way to the guest house. "Everyone to the guest house now." I shout to them.

When I arrive all the lights are off and the doors slightly open. I waist no time in running inside, making sure to be as quiet as possible.

Aiden is on the couch asleep and I make my way to him, I try to wake him but he won't get up. I check his pulse and find a small needle mark on his neck. Wolfsbane. "I need the pack doctor here along with a few guards." I send through the pack link and make my way to the back of the house.

It's a simple one story house with four bedrooms and Lily's is in the back left with the rest of the children. The woman in the back right.

He only said he was after Lily's mom so I have to go there. While I'm making my way to the back I hear a scream so I bolt there as fast as I can. When I try to open the door I find it locked, so I try to break it down with no success. As I keep trying to open it, the screams of pain get louder and I get angrier until eventually my wolf is free.

We make it into the room and spot the intruder, my wolf, Anne, makes her way to him and kills him with the snap of his neck. There's only one other woman in the room and a quick check confirms she was doused with wolfsbane. Then I see Lily's mom, Angie, laying on the floor clutching her stomach as she coughs up blood.

My wolf whimpers and gives me control. As I press a blanket to her stomach, everyone I called out to arrives. "What took you so long? Get the doctor in here now before she dies." I yell at them and they do as I say, the doctor soon arriving and taking her away.

"Alexis, who did this?" I look down at my blood soaked clothes, my anger resurfacing. My vision goes red as my wolf comes back to the surface. I make my way outside as everyone calls after me. "Blake, come out you coward." I call out into the emptiness of the woods. "Blake?" Everyone questions at the same time from behind me. A few seconds later my phone goes off and I answer.

"Come out and fight me instead of going after my pack." He laughs into the phone while I pace back and forth. "Don't worry darling, I'll come for you soon."

"And I'll be ready because I'm warning you Blake, I'm gonna watch the life slowly drain from your eye's as I make your death as slow and painful as possible." I hang up on him and throw my phone in anger, chucking into a tree and breaking it. One thought playing through my head, Blake has to die.
