Chapter 13

•Alexis•

"Alexis, what happened?" As soon as I got back home everyone could tell the meeting went bad. It was hard calming my wolf down. She was angry that Jack thought he could break the rules. She wants respect and when she's angry she'll get it.

"Bring Aiden here." I walked past my father and into my home. As soon as my foot stepped over the threshold, Xander was there. My wolf was still a little in control and when she saw our mate, she calmed down.

"Alexis, are you okay?" He looks at me with worry clear in his eyes and I give him a small smile to reassure him I'm okay.

"Alpha Alexis, you wanted to speak with me?" Aiden steps through the open door and gains my attention. "We're going to war. Spread the news to the pack, I have to call some friends." I send him off and make my way to my office.

Xander follows like a lost puppy and no matter how hard I try to get him to leave, he won't. I sit in my chair while Xander looks around my office, digging in files, and trashing the place.

"Sit." I put as much power in my voice as I can and he complys, sitting across from me. I pick up my phone and dial the two numbers I need.

"Alpha Tony, it's Alexis. I have Alpha Devon here with us." They say a quick hello and ask for me to continue. "We're going to war. I need you guys on high alert and be ready for my call." They agree and say goodbye. When I hang up I notice Xander looking at me.

"What?" I give him a half hearted glare and stand to walk away but he grabs me, pulling me down into his lap. "You're too stressed." He burys his head into the crook of my neck and inhales my scent. My wolf purrs in happiness from being in our mates arms.

"Stress comes with protecting a species." I try to get up but his hold tightens. I shift so my back is no longer against his chest and I'm facing him, straddling him. Well this is an awkward position.

"I need to go." I try to stand again but fail. "You can have a few minutes to your self." He leans in and trails kisses up my neck. I move my neck to the side to give him more access and he smirks against my skin.

He makes his way across my jaw line and to the corner of my mouth when he pulls away. "You know what, you're right. You have pack things."

He stands me up and gets out of his chair making his way to the door. I growl and walk up to his retreating figure.

Before he can open the door, I'm in front of him. "Oh is the little wolfie angry?" He talks in a baby voice and I stalk towards him. "Xander, next time you want to tease me, remember I am stronger and don't like to be tricked."

Before he can say another word I put my lips on his and catch him off guard. Soon his lips are moving in sync with mine and he wraps his arms around my waist.

It's like sparks are flying. I tangle my fingers in his hair and when he trys to push me against the wall, I pull away. "Only I'm aloud to tease my dear mate." I tap his chest and run out of my office laughing.

"Alexis." He shouts after me but I ignore him while I walk out my front door, a smile on my face.

As I walk along the path to the pack house, Aiden comes running up. "Alexis, I have news about my father." He bends over to catch his breath before looking back at me. "I asked a friend of mine to stay in the pack and tell me when something happens. He called and said that Jack has no one fighting for him. No one knew that he was going to war against the Queen and once they found out, they left."

My smile widens and so does his. Now we can definitely win the war. "This is great, but we should still be prepared. Tell Josh we need to start training all the members twice a day. We need to be ready just in case someone does decide to join him." He runs off quickly to find Josh and I keep walking.

Its been forever since I trained with Josh and Danny. I've just been using my secret gym. I'll make sure to train with them tomorrow.

I go around the pack, checking on everyone, and playing with the kids. I even got to see Lily. Other then the meeting between Jack and I, today's been great. I haven't been able to just walk around and talk to the pack like this for a long time.

Then I see something to sour my mood. A wolf, in the bushes, watching us. "Josh, Danny, there's an unknown wolf in pack territory. Prepare the dungeons, time to have some fun."
