It's been three days since Xander found out about Blake. I decided to give him a shot, I didn't want to. I wanted to reject him, to keep my kingdom safe, but my wolf took over while I was vulnerable and stopped the words from tumbling out.
She needs her mate just as much as me. The weight of being Queen is too large. That's why we need our King.
Now that I've accepted him, our bond has gotten stronger. I can tell he wants to mark me, but every time he trys, Blake's mark stops him.
I groan in frustration as a knock sounds at my office door. "Come in." I say barely above a whisper. The door opens and when I look up I see my worried father standing a few feet away.
"Alexis, do you really have to go?" He wears pleading eyes, silently begging me to change my mind. "Yes father, I need to speak with Alpha Sutten."
I stand up from my chair and my knees buckle. I grab hold of my desk to stop myself from falling to the floor while my father rushes to my side.
"Have you been taking your medication?" I sit back in my chair and shake my head. "They give me headaches. I can't focus."
I rub the side's of my head with my thumbs while my father digs through my desk drawers. "They're not in there. Upstairs, in my bed side table."
He leaves quickly to where I told him, leaving me in peace. A few years ago I found out just how bad my body was being worked as Queen.
I was placed on three different pills to keep my stress levels down, my health up, and to keep my anxiety away.
A person can't rule over the kingdom alone, it causes too much stress.
My father comes back a few minutes later with a glass of water and three different sized pills in his hand. I swallow the pills, along with some pain killers to try to keep the headache at bay.
"It's time." I stand up straight and walk out my office door, my father right behind me. "Please, let me go with you. I'm your royal advisor. I must attend all meetings."
I stop and turn to my father, having to tilt my head up to look into his eye's. With a hard glare and my Queen voice, I speak with authority.
"You will stay. You know Alpha Sutten only agreed to speak with me if I went alone. It was hard enough convincing him to let Sam come. I can't have you there too."
He looks away and bows his head in submission. I turn back around, leaving my father in my home staring off at me as I walk away.
After an hour of driving, me and Sam finally arrive at the Blood Moon pack. I hop out of the car and make my way down the marble walk way, a row of pack members lined up and bowing as I walk past.
Alpha Jack Sutten stands in front of a large wooden door with his Beta by his side. "Queen O'Riley, it's a pleasure to have you in my pack." He shows submission and leads me inside.
We sit down across from each other next to a fireplace, Sam standing next to my chair. "My Queen, what is it that has brought you to my home?" He flashes an innocent but sinister smile and I remain with a face of stone.
"Let's not waste time on pleasantries. You know why I'm here; to stop the war before it begins." He crosses his legs and chuckles a low laugh. "Hand over my son and his followers and I will sign a truce. No war, no death, only peace."
I mock his stance by crossing my leg and leaning back in my chair. I can tell it gets to him when he clenches his jaw. "You know I can't do that Jack. You have broken the law of the kingdom. You were once a wonderful alpha, but the death of your mate has clouded your judgement. Step down, let your son take his rightful spot."
I smile sweetly at him, to show I mean good, but he doesn't care. "You will not take my pack from me. Now either hand the rogues over or go to war."
He stands up and I do too, Sam getting ready to fight just in case. "I am your Queen and when I say you are unfit to be Alpha then you will step down. You have beaten your members, killed innocents, and have run a once strong pack into the ground. Now you're lucky I'm letting you just step down."
"I should be throwing you in the royal dungeons to spend the rest of your days suffering the torture a criminal like you deserves, but I am being generous. If you go to war, you will be defying your Queen and you will face death."
I stand tall, power coming off me and through my words. I can see the internal battle between him and his wolf to submit. "I will not step down as Alpha as my pack." He forces the words out, venom dripping with each word.
"Fine." With that, I exit the home of my new enemy, pack members waiting anxiously outside to see if my argument worked. Their hopeful faces fall when they see my black eye's, showing my wolf has surfaced and is very angry.
I stop at the top steps of the home and look at all the innocent members.
"Member's of Blood Moon, hear me out. I will offer shelter in my pack for those of you who don't want in this war. This is your only chance and warning, fight with Alpha Sutten and I will not spare your lives. You will be defying your Queen and breaking the rules of the kingdom."
"Jack will not let anyone sit out of this war. Everyone will be expected to fight. Think of your children and your mates. Some of you can't fight. Come with me now or I will not be able to save you."
The giant pack before me shows mixed emotions. Some scared, some angry, and some mad. As I make my way to my car with Sam, a man speaks.
"Will we be tried for going against our Alpha?" I strong man with a little girl in his arms and his wife by his side, steps forward.
"No. Jack is a cruel Alpha and anyone who leaves will be welcomed into my pack with open arms. We will treat you like our family and you will be safe." A sigh of relief escapes his wife's mouth. I watch as Jack stands in his window, waiting to see who moves.
"I will wait here for half an hour. Jack can't do anything while I'm here because he knows I can bring him to the dungeons if caught abusing his rank."
Quickly, one by one, multiple men, woman, and children head to their houses only to come back with bags packed and ready to go.
Just as we were about to leave, Jack came out, anger evident in his eye's. "You brought this on yourself Jack. Ask for war and you shall receive. Prepare yourself because I'm coming for you." I climbed in my car after that and everyone headed off.
Many stayed by their Alpha's side, but plenty came back with me. His pack is weaker now and mine is stronger.
