The next morning I got the chance to look at my mark. I run my thumb over the slightly red spot on my shoulder.
The image of two wolves wrapped around each other, forming a heart. Xander's mark being the same as mine.
My wolf howls in joy as we stare at the image on our shoulder. After a few more minutes of admiring my mark, I hop in the shower and get ready for the day.
Xander wanted me to stay in bed for at least another day, but I refused. I hate just laying around. I get out of my warm shower and head to my closet with a fluffy towel wrapped around me.
I pick out black skinny jeans, a white tank top, my grey converse, and a beanie. I quickly get dressed and make my way downstairs.
"Good morning Xander." I walk into the kitchen where Xander is cooking breakfast. I make my way to him and give him a peck on the cheek before sitting down on a bar stool.
"Morning Alexis." He comes up behind me with a plate of pancakes, eggs, and bacon, setting it in front of me. "Your mark looks good." He bends down and kisses the sensitive spot on my shoulder.
"Stop Xander, I have to meet up with Josh and Danny soon." I move my hair so its pulled over the mark. He lets out a frustrated sigh and sits next to me. "Fine, but don't cover it." He moves my hair and I just roll my eyes.
After eating my breakfast and one last protest from Xander about me leaving the house, I make it to the training area.
The whole area is taken over by males running, fighting, and talking. I find Josh and Danny standing at the head of the males, instructing them on what to do.
"Training with out me? I'm hurt." I hold my hand over my heart with a hurt expression plastered on my face, the whole pack knowing how much I love to train. Everyone turns to look at me and runs up to me when they see me out of bed.
I haven't been out of the house in three days, I was missed. "Alright, lets get training so we can win this war." I call out, raising my fist in the air and everyone cheers with me. I send everyone off on a warm up run around pack territory while I chat with Josh and Danny.
Sam arrives a few minutes later with the royal guards scheduled to watch over me for the next few hours. "Sam, wanna train with me like when we were younger?" I run up to him, full of excitement.
His usually emotionless face flickers with a hint of amusement as he tackles me to the ground. I quickly roll out from under him and climb on his back. "Come on, you can do better then that, you're head of the royal guard for goddess sake." I laugh as he let's out a playful growl and shoves me off his back.
I climb to my feet as he begins to circle me, looking for a weak spot. He lunges for me and I quickly side step, twisting my body around so I can kick him in the back.
He let's out a small groan as he stumbles. "You know you've never beaten me Sam." I check my nails as he watches my every move. "Maybe I should be your guard."
He throws a punch and I block it, hitting his stomach. He sweeps his leg under me, making me fall. Everyone starts coming back from their run, forming a circle around me and Sam.
He climbs on top of me and pins my arms so I can't hit. He leans close to me, making his voice low. "Wow, 15 years of watching your moves and I might finally beat you." A smirk spreads across his face, but I have other plans.
"Yeah but you forgot about one of my favorite moves." I say innocently. "Oh and what was that?" An evil smile spreads across my face. "This." I lean in close and head butt him.
He rolls off of me, clutching his forehead and I climb on top of him. I elongate my claws and hold them to his neck. "Submit and I'll buy you cookie dough ice cream." He chuckles before turning his head, showing his neck to say he submits.
"You owe me all the ice cream I want." He pouts like a child and I roll off him laughing. "Alright calm down you cackling cow, lets train." He holds his hand out to me and I take it so he can help me up.
"Alright everyone, grab a partner that's equal to your fighting level. We'll start from there." I call out to the members around us as Sam rests his elbow on my shoulder.
After a few hours of training we all take a break, the pack members resting on the grass, some with their mates and others with friends. "Aiden, come here a second."
Aiden makes his way away from his new friends and jogs up to me. "Yes Alpha Alexis?" I have to look up to face him since he's considerably taller. "Has your friend called you back with news about Jack?"
It's been weeks since we had an update, everyone was getting worried. He shakes his head, his eyes flashing with worry. "I was thinking of sending out some scouts to see what he's up to. If you like, it can also be a rescue mission."
"I'd like that very much. He's a good fighter and he shouldn't be punished because I made him stay." "We can get together a group of some of our strongest fighters, but we'll need you to go with. You're the only one who knows the territory well enough to get in and out without being caught."
"Then I'll help." A look of determination is plastered on his face and I send him back to his friends. "Josh, get three members of the royal guard ready to leave. They'll be heading to Jack's territory at sundown." He gives me a brief nod before heading off to collect the members. This is going to be a long day.
