ONE WEEK LATER

It's been a week since I lost my virginity to Caleb and ever since Lucas had told me about the passing of his father, he invited me to the funeral and he wanted me confront him because he said he wouldn't be able to be there without me.

I didn't want to overdress nor did I want to under dress, so I kept it simple by wearing a plain all black dress that sit right above my knees. I also matched it up with black heels and I combed my hair back and kept it straight.

Lucas texted me and said that he was here was downstairs. I grabbed my black clutch and my keys and my phones and I went downstairs. I already told my mom everything and she said was okay with it and that she understood.

I quickly left out the door and walked over to the car that was parked in front of my house. I opened the car door and got inside the passenger side.

"Hey." I said giving him a smile.

He was wearing an all black suit with sunglasses covering his eyes, which I believed were red and puffy since he's been crying. He nodded his head at me and started to drive off.

He used one hand to grip onto the steering wheel and I gripped onto the other one and squeezed on it.

"You good? I got you." I said attempting to confront him.

"Thanks." He said smiling at me before peering his attention back at the road. It made my heart warm seeing him smile. We've been calling and face timing and for the whole week he hasn't smile once. So, it made me happy knowing that I was the reason why he was smiling.

"Why you smiling like that for?" He asked me.

"I don't know, it just made me happy when I saw you smile." I replied.

He gave me another smile and squeezed my hand. I jerked back when my phone dinged, I picked up the phone to read the message.

Caleb: Wyd?

Me: I'm going with m friend to his father's funeral. Why?

Caleb: What do you mean, "his"

Me: He's m friend...

Caleb: You ain't never tell me about no nigga.

Me: I knew him way before you, it's not even like that.

I lied about knowing him longer, but I didn't want Caleb thinking there was anything going on with Chris and I.

Caleb: It better not be. Meet me at my house after whatever you doing, I need to talk to you.

I ignored his last text and rolled my eyes as I stuffed my phone back into my clutch. We finally arrived the church and listened to the service and they called Lucas's mom who talked about her favorite memory with her husband.

Lucas's father, David died because he had Leukemia, and after Lucas's mom said her speech, she called Lucas up to the podium.

I stood up with him giving him a hug, before he walked up to the stage and I sat back down smiling looking up at him.

"Uh.." Lucas looked at me and I nodded my head giving him the go. "Well, I ain't know my mamma was gon' put me on the spot like this. But, my father was my best friend and my world. He taught me how to be a man, and the littlest things in life like riding a bike, how to swim, how to fight. The day before he died he told me.." He began to choke up and I could tell their was a lump in his throat and he was trying to hold back his tears. "He told me that he knew he was going to pass." At this point, tears was flowing down his face and he was attempting to wipe the tears away. "He knew he wasn't going to live, and he told me that he wanted me to continue to live my life and not to mourn his death for a long period of time. And it is hard... It really is. He also continued to tell me that one day that I would find love." He stopped and looked at me, which caused me to look away. "He told me that he would approve anybody that I truly love if he fought Leukemia or not." He continued to talk more and reminisce the old memories of his father and he finally got off the stage and took a seat besides me.
