I laid on my bed looking up at my ceiling thinking about how my life changed in the past few months. I wiped the tears that fell on the side of my face and got up from my bed and went downstairs to get a drink of water.
I pulled the fridge door open and pulled out a cold bottle of water and took a fast swig of it.
"What you doing up buttercup?" My father asked patting me on my shoulders.
"I just wanted a drink of water." I said smiling ear to ear. Ever since my dad been home, i just couldn't believe I could talk to him without seeing him in a prison jumper.
"Are you sure that's all?"
"I've just been a little stress, like with the things that happened." I said referring to the incident.
"I'm sorry you had to see that."
"I'm fine. I guess he deserved it." I shrugged my shoulders.
"I apologize."
"For what?"
"Not being there in your life. If I was in your life, you probably wouldn't have been with a man like him."
"No dad, it's not your fault and you shouldn't blame yourself. It was my decision to go talk to him."
"Thanks for that, and by the way I put the $500,000 in your bank that you can't touch till your 18 and I put $250,000 in Jordan's account and the other $250,000 in your mother's account." He told me.
"Wow, thanks dad." I said giving him a hug.
"It's the least I can do for y'all."
"You don't take enough credit for what you have done. You're not a bad father, if anything you're probably the best."
"That means a lot. Now go get some sleep."
"Good night." I waved at him and went up to bed.
It was the morning and for some reason I was so excited that prom was tomorrow. I got up and put on light blue washed jeans with a plain white tee and a basketball cap. I also matched it with my all black YEEZYS.
I went downstairs and my mother took the day off of work to spend the day with my father. So both of them were sleeping in, I grabbed my daily fruit and tossed it in my bag before walking out.
I went inside Jordan's car and threw my bag on the back seat.
"Hey ugly ass." Jordan said pinching my face.
"Move, dang. It's too early for this." I said playfully rolling my eyes and hitting his hands away from mine.
"You hit like a whole nigga. Shit." He said rubbing on his hand.
He pulled off and started driving to school. "I heard what happened."
"How you knew dad came back?" I asked trying to change the subject.
"I was the first one to know when he was released, but he told me not to tell y'all. But that's not even the point."
"We were just going to have one final talk that's all."
"Asia I ain't dumb though. This nigga tried to get you killed and by the grace of god it was your father."
"I didn't know."
"Well duh! You think if you knew you woulda went? You need to stop looking for love everywhere else than where you should actually get from. You got your parents, you got me, you got your friends."
"I want to experience a different type of love."
"You're only seventeen, you need to live your life."
