Scarlett
I blinked once, twice, thrice, wondering if I heard it right.
Daniel wants to take the baby, as in take care of him and raise him?
That could only mean one thing-
The world's crumbling into pieces, isn't it?
Isabelle choked, "You can't be serious...right? Please don't be serious!"
"I'm serious. He'll live under my home. I'm going to do it for Siegfried. He'll have all the care in the world."
My jaw dropped, "When did you two become close?!"
Aspen tried to reason with him, "Daniel, it's not that we don't trust you...BUT THAT'S A BABY!"
"So?"
"No offense, but when you put DANIEL and BABY together, anyone can develop a trust issue."
"Okay, now you're just hurting my feelings." Daniel glared.
Well, Aspen has a point. Anyone who knows Daniel couldn't trust him with a child. But, me? I've seen him with children before, but I'll never say this to anyone.
He's pretty good with kids, and they like him. That's a secret side of him, I guess. But, the last thing I wanna do is actually admit that to anyone's face!
"Look. He'll live with me, but I won't be the one to take care of him. Maybe I'll be like a big brother or second father figure, but that's just it." He said.
The three of us gave him the 'what-now?' look.
"What do you mean?"
"Back at the villa, I have a friend named Felipe. He helps me out with my inventions." He explained.
Isabelle squinted, "So, you'll hire this Felipe, a man used to holding hard anvils and hammers, to raise a soft, fleshy creature?!"
"That's not-"
"Daniel, this is a baby, not a machine." Aspen added.
"Will you guys let me explain first?!", Daniel whisper-shouted, then sighed, "Geez. I'm not an idiot. I know a baby when I see one, and I know what kind of people can deal with a child. How bad is your trust issue with me?!"
"Do you really want us to answer that?"
"Now, you're just breaking my heart." Daniel's expression became bland. He cleared his throat and went back on track,
"Look. Felipe is a good, friendly, hardworking man. He's a bit old and he has a wife. They've always wanted a child but they couldn't have one. He really loves children to the point of crying when they see them."
"Really?"
He continued, "Yeah. So, I know that they can be trusted with Savion. And besides the loving parents he'll receive, I'll also be able to keep an eye on him, since he'll live with me. It's a good plan."
He does have a point there. If they really are the people Daniel said they are, then it wouldn't be a problem. That way, Isabelle won't be bothered. It's a win-win.
Savion's gonna be safe, he's going to be kept an eye on, and the nice couple Daniel's talking about will have a child. That's killing many birds with one sto- No, that sounds brutal for something like that. Hmm.
Ah! It's like knocking down many soldiers down with one sword!
No. That's worse.
Isabelle and Aspen smiled, nodding as they thought of Daniel's proposition. As for me, I don't really have a problem with that. So yeah, I pretty much agree.
