CASSIE
I'm the most evil human being that has ever walked the planet. I said yes to Luke. I mean I guess I wanted to because of the bet, but the way he just blurted it out had the butterflies erupt in my stomach like crazy.
When he gave me his test when he hadn't looked at it yet, told me that I was the first person he wanted to tell. That left me wishing that I could always be the first person that he told everything to. Then I remembered that I was doing this because I made a bet with the devil.
The day after the lunch with my dad at San Diego, I received a dozen pink roses with a card saying an apology from my father. But what got me more surprised was the three extra shelves of books that was added to my library. The next day after the party, Christian came to me with a new book. And we spent most of that night reading.
I'm at the mall with Erin and Jordan. We had a soccer game this morning and of course we won. My date with Luke is tonight, so Erin and Jordan are helping me find the perfect outfit. Luke texted me this morning saying that he got everything planned. When I asked him if he slept last night and he answered with 'a few hours' I felt something tug at my heart. I wasn't sure if it was from guilt or pure adoration.
Now I'm being dragged by the two shopaholics, I call my friends. Store after store, I'm surprised that they still have the ability to shop. They still don't know that Luke was the real bet. All they think right now is that I'm actually trying to be a normal teenager.
"What about this one?" Erin says showing me a dress that looks like it could be a normal crop top. I told her that I could just find something in my huge closet, but she made a big deal about the fact that Luke is someone that deserves to see me in something new. I'm not just talking about the outfit. My best friend everyone!
"No."
"Come on, Princess. That is the hundredth outfit you turned down. If you don't pick anything you might as well go on this date wearing a brown paper bag." Jordan says not even looking up from his phone. A brown paper bag sounds more appealing than the outfits they are picking out for me. I let out a deep and guttural groan. I'm so done with this.
"I'll take the brown paper bag." I say.
"No way! This is the first date you actually said yes to in two years. Your outfit has to be perfect." Erin says as she looks through a new rack of outfits. While she went through the different outfits, I went back to my phone deciding to let her go freestyle on the outfits. I decide to text Luke.
-SEND HELP! Been kidnapped by Erin for shopping.
Not even a minute later, I received a reply. One that made me smile.
-Oh no! I'm on it!
Called in LAPD, FBI, Navy Seals, the Marines, even Nancy Drew.
He joked back. I know I looked like a fool grinning wildly, though Erin and Jordan said nothing.
-Can't I just use sweats and a baggy sweatshirt for tonight?
I try to say, even though I'll still lose to Erin on what I'm going to be wearing.
-You could, but I'm pretty sure if you do, we won't get into the place we are going to be eating at.
-Where are we going?
-I'd tell you...
-But?
-Then it wouldn't be a surprise. 😏
