LUKE
Waking up to a steady heart beat and no more tube coming out of Cameron's mouth was a relief. I wasn't dreaming that he was getting better. He wasn't going anywhere.
I looked around the room and it was only me with Cameron. He was still out since he woke up before I fell asleep. Stirred a little bit, but other than that, he was still sleeping peacefully. I checked my phone and saw that it's early morning on a Monday. Meaning that we had school. That explains why it's empty in here. Taking a better look at my phone I see I have messages. Most were from my mom saying that she went home to freshen up. Some were from Scott and Brady asking how Cameron is doing. And the others are from Shrimp and Cassie saying that they had to go to school. Most of them being from Cassie.
Cassie - Hey, just letting you know that I went home to get ready for school. Teddy will have my ass if I don't go.
Cassie - Dean is with me. His parents said the same thing.
Cassie - We'll be there after school. XOXO
"That thing has been going off since six this morning." I hear raspy mumbling, looking up I see Cameron looking at me. Fully awake.
"Hey." I say quickly putting my phone away and getting up to get some water for him to drink. I grabbed a straw and went up to him to let have some. Once he was done I put the cup down and sit back in the chair I was just in. "How you feeling?"
All I get from him is a shrug.
"How long have I been out?"
"A couple days." I say before we go back into silence with the only sound that we hear is his heart monitor.
"Dean told me what happened." Cameron decides to break the silence, I looked up to him. He's looking anywhere but at me. What did Dean tell him exactly? As if reading my mind, he continues. "He told me, that when he came to my room, he found you throwing punch after punch at my dad. It was so bad that he barely got you off of him. And that he's pressing charges against you for assault and attempted murder."
So he told him everything.
"Luke." I snap my head up to look at him, and the first thing I see in his eyes are concern. It shouldn't be concern, it should be fear or something along those lines. "You blacked out, didn't you?"
Cameron is one of the only people I've told about my blackouts when I get angry enough. I mean he saw first hand a few months ago.
"Teddy is the best defense attorney in the state, maybe the country, so I'm not worried that those charges will or will not be dropped, besides he said we can put it off as self defense." I say trying to turn the attention to that instead of something that happens when I lose control. My phone buzzes.
"That's not what I'm worried about."
My phone buzzes again.
"Luke."
"Why didn't you tell me?" I snap.
Buzz Buzz. Who the hell is texting me? I don't make a move to see who it is and just stare at Cameron for an answer.
"It wouldn't of made a difference of you being charged, would it?"
"You still ended up in the hospital, with barely a pulse when we found you being beaten by your son of a bitch Father." I say, each word becoming louder and louder with Cameron's eyes becoming wider and wider. I don't falter my gaze from Cameron when another text comes to my phone.
