LUKE
"Are you fucking kidding me, Luke?" Kyle yells from the drivers side of the car. He's pissed, anyone can see that. I mean I get why he's pissed. I made a promise and I had broken it. I just sat there looking at the road in front of us, listening to him yell at me. We had just left the 'Dungeon,' a place where underground fighting and a lot of illegal stuff happens.
"You promised me!" He continued. "You promised Mom and Dad! Dammit Luke! Why! Just Why?! You could've seriously been hurt."
"It's a fighting match, I would've been hurt anyways."
"I don't care. One wrong move and you could've been killed!"
"But I wasn't." I try to reason, raising my eyebrows looking at him thinking how he can be so drastic. But that doesn't do much.
"And that doesn't make it any better!" He snaps his head to me, raising his voice.
"I'm sorry." I say after a moment, just enough for him to calm down a little bit.
"Well, sorry won't cut it this time. Not if Mom and Dad finds out." At the mentioning of them finding out, I snap my head towards him, my eyes widening a bit. It's been three months since I promised them I would stop the fighting. And since then, I've lied to them on multiple occasions.
"Are you gonna tell them?" I ask hoping that he would be the big brother I need him to be. But in my case, it doesn't look like that's going to be happening. He's silent for a moment as if battling himself as to what he's going to be telling them when we walk into the house.
"I don't know yet." He mumbles out. But that wasn't reassuring enough. If they find out that I've been going behind their backs about this, they would never trust me again. And I would be the 40 year old virgin still living in my parents basement.
"Please don't tell them. I'll do anything! Please." I pleaded.
"I said I don't know yet." He says a little bit louder. I've never seen him so mad. Before I can say anything else, he speaks up again. "Just tell me why? Why did you keep up with the fighting?"
I shrugged and looked back to the road. I honestly don't know. I just love how the adrenaline feels when I throw my first punch. Seeing my opponent drop to the floor after one good swing knowing that I have that ability in me. Hearing the cheers and praises from the crowds is like a drug to me. But can I really say that to him? Mister Righteousness?
"I just don't want to lose my Little Brother." He says barely in a whisper making me unsure if I'm suppose to here it.
"Earth to Luke." I snapped out of my own thoughts by the sweet melodic voice of the girl I've been waiting to see. It's been almost three weeks since our first date, and ever since she came back from her camping trip we've been spending almost everyday together. My Mom has still been asking me if she can meet her, but I keep making up excuses. I just want to be selfish for a little bit longer before I have to share her with my Mother.
"Hey!" I say, placing a kiss to her cheek after she sits down next to me on one of the picnic tables the school put outside. She smiles and I could see her cheeks turn a shade of pink that has always been adorable on her. Honestly, it's been the best three weeks of my life.
"What are you reading?" She says looking at the open book I had in front of me.
"Uh, Legend by Marie Lu." I answer as she takes a bite of whatever was on her lunch tray.
