I was standing alone outside to the school. My after school piano lesson had just finished and I was waiting for my mom to pick me up. She was usually busy, so I was used to waiting at school. It had been two weeks since I had hypnotized Liam and I hadn't given much thought to it since.
Then I saw them. Oh no.
Nico and Matt were approaching me. They must have just finished their athletics practice, both being on the athletics team and every other sports team in the school, and they decided to make me slightly more miserable than I already was.
"Emma, your hair is so hot, I'm getting sunburn!" Nico shouted at me as they approached.
The pick up lines weren't getting any better. Or the giggling.
I couldn't really ignore them, since no one else was around.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"I want you to be with me," Matt said and the giggling started again.
Maybe I could just...
No, I can't. And I shouldn't.
But I could just try. It can't make the situation any worse. Maybe just a teeny tiny hypnotism, just to get them to go away.
Two people at the same time. Maybe I could do it. I felt a spark of confidence and decided to continue.
"Wow, you two are so brave, especially since I'm a ginger," I said, lowering my voice. They seemed quite surprised at my reaction.
"It's so nice of you to come and talk to me. I was just standing here all by myself. Maybe you should just focus on my voice. We can just relax. Just feel how relaxed you are, focusing on my voice. From your head down to your toes."
They were starting to look woozy, so I pushed ahead.
"Don't you just want to focus on my voice? Nothing but my voice. Only listen to my voice. You can feel the relaxation spreading through your body. It envelopes you. You don't want to fight it, you just want to sleep. Feel your breathing getting deeper and slower. Every breath makes you feel more relaxed."
It didn't really matter what I said, so long as it was slow and relaxing. Soon enough they were completely relaxed. I think I had them.
"On the count of five you will fall into a deep trance. Every breath you take lets you become even more under my hypnotic command."
Maybe I was pushing the limits a bit more this time.
"One... two... three... four... and five."
Their eyes closed at the same time, but they did not fall down. Hypnotised standing up you stay standing up, I guess. Oh well.
Now, what to do. I could just make them go away, like I initially planned, but that wouldn't be interesting. And it wouldn't solve any problems. Solving problems is the point of this hypnotism, isn't it?
Time to have some fun.
I just want both of them to leave me alone, I thought as my mind flashed back to the time they threw little balls of paper at me all day. I shuddered. I could just fix that. And Matt was always so loud and obnoxious.
"All right," I said, looking up at them. It felt weird to have them stand there when I was about a head shorter than both of them. "When I count to three, you will wake up and walk away, forgetting our interactions now, but you will still follow these commands: Matt, when you wake up, you will be very shy and withdrawn from now on. You will find it difficult to talk to people and you will choose to focus on your schoolwork. And Nico, you will actually be in love with me, although you will think I am way out of your league. When I snap my fingers, you will both fall into a trance again. Do you understand?"
They murmured in agreement.
"Then it is settled. One, two, three."
Both of them instantly woke up, turned around and soundlessly walked away.
I smiled as they slowly trudged off. Maybe that was a bit mean of me, but I didn't harm them or anything. It was fine.
I can finally go to school again without worrying about being teased anymore. Things were looking up."Wait, so you hypnotised Matt and Nico? Like what you did to me?" Liam asked me. It was the next day before the start of school and I had told my friends about what happened the previous day.
"Well, not exactly like you," I confessed. "I kind of didn't remove the stuff I told them to do."
"So you actually decided to change them," Madison said, narrowing her eyes. "What happened to not using hypnotism?"
"Ok, so maybe I was wrong about not using it." I protested. "But now they won't bother us anymore. Besides, if anything goes wrong, I can just remove it."
"I think this could be interesting," Liam said. "You never know, it might be nice for you two."
"Please Madison," I pleaded, giving her my best puppy dog face.
Madison scowled at me. "Your sad face is terrible. But fine, let's see how it goes."
