Chapter 18: Insanity takes over

*Lilita’s P.o.V.*

It was about ten A.M. and most people were asleep, either with a hangover or just sleeping. Right now, I was searching the base for Pein. I have checked everywhere and still haven’t found him.

“Hmm, where could he be?” I ponder, walking into the kitchen when I smell coffee. Mm, coffee.

I look to the counter to see a familiar head of orange standing there, back to me.

“Can I have some?” I ask, walking over to Pein.

He turns around and looks at me, then to his cup and back again. “Fine.” Pein groans, handing me his cup of steaming hot coffee.

“Thanks.” Taking a sip, I let the hot liquid slide down my sore throat. Pein nods his head and pours himself another cup. We stand there in silence, drinking our delicious coffee when I remember something.

“Hey, Pein?”

“Yes?” Pein looks up at me.

“Uh, you know that kid we went to get six years ago?” I start, taking another sip of my coffee. Pein just nods his head and keeps his gaze on me. “Well, I found him when Deidara and I went to Iwa.”

“Good. What happened?”

“Nothing really. I just said you still wanted him and to meet me in Kirigakure tomorrow so I could bring him back here.” I shrug, hoping he won’t get mad a me.

“Very well.” Pein finishes his coffee and sets the cup in the sink. “You will leave tomorrow to retrieve him. I will get one of the other members to accompany you. I will inform you who it is later today.” Pein states before exiting the room.

I finish my coffee and set it in the sink before grabbing a new cup and pouring coffee in it for Deidara. Walking back to his room, I open the door and slip in, sliding over to the bed.

Sitting on the edge on his side, I set the coffee on the nightstand and turn to face Deidara. I gingerly brush his bangs away from his face, letting me see both his closed eyelids considering he took off his scope last night.

“Deidara.” I whisper softly, running my finger down his jaw.

“Mm.” Deidara smiles slightly and leans into my hand.

“It’s time to wake up.” I keep my voice gently and soft, not wanting to make his hangover worse.

“Hmm.” Deidara groans and turns his head into the pillow, his bangs falling over his face again.

“Come on. I brought coffee.” I whisper, grabbing the cup and bringing it towards him.

Deidara’s eyes peek open and he smiles at me. “You are the best girlfriend ever.” Deidara sighs happily as he drinks his coffee.

“I try.” I shrug, a small smile on my face. We sit there in silence as Deidara gulps down his coffee. A few minutes later, he places the cup on the nightstand and lays back down.

“That was good.” Deidara smiles up at me.

“Your welcome.” I lean down and peck his lips. Deidara grabs my chin and pulls my face back, kissing my lips again.

I go to kiss back but a burning pain seers through my head. Lurching back, I clutch my head tightly.

“Agh!” I groan, my head pounding.

“Lita?” Deidara grabs me and pulls me into his lap, rubbing soothing circles.

“Sh. Sh. It’s gonna be okay.” Deidara sooths as I clutch my head, willing the pain to go away.
