Chapter 24: Never the same

*Deidara’s P.o.V.*

“Ugh.” I groan, struggling to open my sore eyes. Finally, I manage to open them only to be greeted with bright sunlight and debris everywhere. I go to sit up but a burning pain in my abdomen stops me. Looking down, I see a dark red colour staining through my cloak.

I slowly sit up, pull open my cloak and lift my shirt up. A huge gash embeds on my skin, going in a diagonal line from above my belly button to almost my pant line. Damn.

Ignoring the aching pain in my stomach, I scan the area around me. My eyes rest upon a slumped figure on the ground. A lock of silver hair sticks out from under their hood so I assume that’s Shain.

My eyes continue scanning the area and I finally see who I was searching for, Lilita.

The only thing that was wrong was that there was a cloaked figure laying her down on the ground.

“Hey, un!” I shout angrily at the cloaked person. He sets Lilita down before turning to face me. We have a staring contest before he disappears into thin air.

I am about to go over to Lilita but the cloak man appears in front of me. “Protect her.” It growls before vanishing and I black out.

*Tatsu’s P.o.V.*

I really hope she can break through the battle going on inside of her. If she doesn’t, she dies and then we have a crazed demon on the loose and a super insane insanity entity. Just wonderful.

As I jump through the trees, I can’t help but think about what Lilita said to me before she let the battle start.

*Flashback*

“Hey, Tatsu?” Lilita asks softly.

“Mm?” Turning around, I see her staring up at me with determined eyes.

“I need you to promise me something.” Lilita states strictly, her eyes staring at me with that intensity that says that there is no way in Hell I’ll be able to refuse.

“What?”

Lilita sighs, look at Kyouki, then me and then to Kohaku before resting her bloody eyes back on me.

“Promise me…” Lilita starts, “That if I start losing, you will kill me.”

I stare at her in disbelief, my mouth slightly open. “I-I can’t do that.”

“You will. I don’t care if you can’t you will. It will be best for everyone. Please, promise me.” Lilita stares up at me with pleading eyes.

I close my mouth and swallow deeply before slowly nodding. “I promise.”

*End of flashback*

*Tatsu’s P.o.V.*

Lilita, I really hope your strong enough for this. I really do.

*Deidara’s P.o.V*

I woke again to see Lilita sitting next to me, her hands above my stomach, glowing a faint green. Groaning, I try and sit up. Lilita notices this and pushes me back down.

“Hey, I’m fine, yeah.” I reassure her, placing on of my hands on hers. Lilita looks up from my stomach and we lock eyes, but her eyes were empty.

Not empty like last time but dull and rugged. They didn’t hold their usual spark or deviousness. Something was up.

“Hey, are you okay?” I ask, rubbing her arm slowly.

“I am fine.” Lilita states, her eyes flicking away from me and back to my stomach. The glowing stops and Lilita sits back and stands up. “Done. Let’s go home.”

Carefully, I sit up and find barely any pain so I go for standing up and find it a success. I button my cloak back up before plunging my hands into my pouches of clay. My mouths start chewing so I walk over to Lilita who was standing by Shain.

“Are you sure your fine?” I ask, throwing my clay bird to the side and watching it enlarge.

“I am fine.”

“Okay, and thanks for healing me.” I reply but I only get a nod.

One thing was for sure, I don’t think Lilita, or me, will ever be the same.
