Chapter 29: I thought this was supposed to be recon

*Lilita’s P.o.V.*

“Leader wants to see you.” Zetsu states as he rises from the floor in my bedroom.

“Zetsu!” I scream, quickly covering myself with my shirt and throwing stuff at him.

Zetsu just chuckles and seeps back into the floor, like nothing happened. Stupid, perverted venus fly trap. Calming my temper, I finish getting dressed before heading out into the hallway.

I continue walking until I reach Pein’s office and knock on the door, waiting for a response. A muffled ‘enter’ sounds and I open the door.

“You wanted to see me?” I grumble, glaring at the wall behind him.

“Yes, I have a mission for you.” Pein states, folding his hands in front of him.

“But Pein…..” I trail off, considering my current ‘predicament’. “What about the….”

Pein raises a hand and cuts me off.

“It’s only recon, not actual combat and I am sure that it will be quick and easy.”

Nodding, I take a couple steps forward, grab a chair and sit down. “Okay, what’s my mission?”

“You will be going solo to Otogakure to conduct a sort of recon of the northern area where we have gained information that there is some sort of organization forming there. All I ask you is to figure out if there actually is a group. If so, take into count how many there are and determine if they are threats or not. Proceed with caution.”

“Who was this source?” I question.

“One of Sasori’s subordinates. Just get it done and get out of there as fast and quietly as possible.” Pein turns around his chair so he was facing the window looking out at Amegakure.

“Anything else?”

“You depart immediately. Konan will escort you there.” Pein says, his tone signalling the end of our conversation.

Walking out of his office, I see Konan waiting for me by the door. When she sees me, she glares at me.

“What?” I ask, raising an eyebrow. What did I do to piss her off?

“When were you gonna tell me?” Konan snaps, still glaring.

“Tell you what?” I wonder, confused at the whole situation.

“That.” Konan smiles, gesturing to my stomach. My eyes widen and I smile slightly.

“Sorry! I totally forgot!” I apologize, smiling sheepishly as I rub my tummy.

“Well, you can make up for it on the way there.” Konan smiles at me as we walk down the hallway. “Do what you need to do, we leave in five minutes.

“Okay.” I nod before walking into the kitchen to see Deidara sitting at the table, eating an apple.

“Hey, babe.” Deidara smiles warmly at me, pulling me into his lap and wrapping his free arm around my waist.

“Hey. So, I’ll be gone tonight and maybe tomorrow morning.” I explain, leaning into him.

“Why?”

“I got a mission in Otogakure. Just some recon stuff. Nothing major.” I shrug.

“You’re going by yourself?” Deidara mutters, raising an eyebrow at me.

“Konan’s escorting me there but I’ll be fine. I’ll see you tomorrow, hopefully.” I say, pecking him on the lips.

“Okay, see you. Love you.” Dei kisses me again. I climb off his lap and skip away.

“Love you too!” I call as I skip down the hallway. I reach the front entrance and see Konan waiting for me. “Ready.”

Konan nods and rests a hand on my shoulder, performing hand signs with the other. She mutters something and I feel myself being sucked up and turned to paper.

Konan had transported back to base after dropping me off at my destination. Walking along a dirt road, I kick up some dirt and send rocks flying.

“Wonder what this organization is.” I mumble to myself, sending another rock into a tree. The tree splits down the middle and the rock goes flying through it and into another tree.

"Whoops.” I giggle softly, picking up my pace a little, wanted desperately to get this mission over with.

Closing my eyes, I concentrate and feel for any chakra traces. Aha! Two miles, northwest of me. It was small but at least it was something.

Taking off at a run, I make my way in the direction of the chakra. I take to the trees and start running there. The edge of the forest comes into view and I jump out of the trees, only to be smashed into and sent flying into a rock.

The wind gets knocked out of me and I feel myself sliding down, breathing deeply. I quickly stand up and survey the area, seeing no one there.

I do some hand signs and take a deep breath. “Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!” Small fireballs blow out everywhere, setting everything on fire.

When the smoke clears, standing in front of me was someone I never wanted to see again after last time.

"Ryuu.”

A/N: I hope this was a little bit longer than previous chapters but whatever. Chapters would be longer but Wattpad has been squishing them together and making them extremely short. Like if it's five or six pages on Word, it's 1-2 pages on here. Anywho, enough with my rambling. Hope you all like and comment and vote and stuff if you want faster updates.
