Chapter 27:
(Ellie's POV)
I knocked on the door apprehensively. I needed to explain why I would be leaving and how my leaving would be best for Harry. I knew I would be walking into a confrontation, but I felt strong in my decision. Niall opened the door and stepped to one side to let me in, smiling sheepishly. I knew Niall well and over the years he was always a little strange with me but today was a new level of awkward.
"Hey." I said smiling in return as he closed the door.
"How are you?" I asked as he led me away.
"I'm good thanks. We're just in here." He said leading me to the living room getting straight to the point. I walked in first due to him holding the door seeing Liam and Louis sat on the sofa and Zayn standing, leaning his side on the wall looking at his nails. They all had different expressions that didn't change with my entrance.
"Thanks for coming El." Lous said starting it off as I sat on the armchair opposite. Niall went and joined Liam and Louis on the sofa, their attention on me.
"Of course." I replied connecting my hands on my laps feeling awkward.
"I'm going to get straight into this, you need to tell him." Liam said directly.
"Well, she doesn't" Zayn interjected.
"Zayn. We spoke about this." Liam countered annoyed by Zayn's interruption.
"He has a right to know." Niall added.
"Even if it gets him killed?" I asked. Zayn looked at them for a reaction looking smug as they fell silent. Zayn was usually the last of them I agreed with. We never saw eye to eye and felt he didn't like me. But for us to agree on this was strange as we never agreed on anything.
"This isn't just about him knowing. Or about my relationship with him. Or even about you all. It's about the danger we all risk. There is a reason that species don't mix and I think its because of the destruction we create when we do. I want to keep him safe. I want to keep you all safe too and the only way I can do that is to do this. I actually came here to say that make this easier, me and my family will be returning back to the portal." I explained. Liam stood as a reaction making the others watch. A knock of the door got Niall up and out of the conversation.
"You can't" Liam stated.
"I have too." I answered.
"Cover!" Niall sped in before my eyes saw sudden darkness, my body hurdling out of the chair and on the floor. Everything happened so fast. The explosion, my body crunching at the floor as the rubble hit my body. I blinked as smoke and dust covered my vision.
"Is everyone okay?" Niall shouted out as I coughed up the dust and dirt, pulling me out of the shock. I nodded, my ears ringing from the explosion. What was that? Why?
"He said 'Ryan send's his regards' before blowing up the place." Niall coughed out helping me standing looking me in the eyes in fear. I looked around and saw Zayn crouching down helping Louis up.
"This can't be happening." I muttered, the pain shooting through my body as pure adrenaline kept me standing.
"Zayn, take Niall and Louis away. We need to go into hiding. This was a clear attack and he'll find out soon enough that we didn't die. This was a warning." Liam ordered to the boys, walking towards my shaking body.
"Harry could be in real danger if Ryan comes against him. He won't know who or why so he won't see an attack coming. You need to reverse the spell." Liam continued, his hands on my upper arms as I shook my head out the shock. They were all gathering themselves together from different parts of the room, a world away from the calm.
"Are you okay?" I asked taking his arm in my hands to see it was covered in black blood.
"I will be. Now Ellie. Please. We don't have a lot of time." He replied, his arm moving away to gain my attention. I nodded gathering myself together. I looked down and kicked some of the debris away to make a clear floor. I picked up a debris from the floor and cut into mine and Harry's connection scar, using the blood to form a symbol of a line and then chanted. I knew I needed more and if my mother was here to witness, she would say I needed to channel something. But with nothing to go from, the only thing I could do would be to use our connected blood and the channeled connection and drain the spell from his blood through mine. It wouldn't remove the magic that connected our bodies but it was strong enough magic to channel from. I wasn't sure if it would work and I knew with more time and resources I could do this the proper way but with my father on the loose, I couldn't risk time winning.
"Magiam ex sanguine eius per meum solve. Revoca, solve et renova." I chanted. The bang was loud, sudden and the light that burst into the room came like a burst in front of me like a firework, blasting me and Liam and the spell. The light so bright it was blinding, making me cover my eyes with my arm. When the light faded, I looked over to Liam to make sure he was okay but crouching down to look at the blood that was illuminating on the ground with that same light in the line of blood.
"Did it work?" Liam asked, looking down at the spell and then at me for reassurance. I took a few deep breath feeling the weight of the spell run through me, tiring me a little.
"There's only one way to find out." I explained, standing and brushing the dirt from my hands against my clothes. I hoped it worked, but Harry had no way of contacting me. The only way to truly know would be to see him and find out.
"He'll be trying to find you if this has worked." Liam countered joining me by standing looking around at the debris and ash around us. The destruction my own father had led, nearly killing innocents for his own personal vendetta. This isn't the honest man I knew growing up. I didn't know this man. I took a deep breath trying not to get emotional.
"I know." I commented. He was right. He would be trying to find me. But I needed to end this first.
"But I need to do something first." I said knowing what I needed to do. My father could not continue to wreak havoc. He was on a war path and the only person who could stop him now was me. I knew I would have to seek forgiveness from my mother rather than ask for permission.
"You can't go after him alone El. Why don't you wait for Harry? Just in case he turns." He suggested, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck being cautious to not offend me. I smiled in reassurance. Liam had always been kind to me. He was a good man and as I looked over the damage my father had done to him, he had no right to be nice to me but was anyway.
"This is my fight. Not yours. Not even Harry's. We can't afford anymore casualties." I replied.
"Besides, he won't kill me. He's done all of this to keep me alive. His logic may be completely flawed but he's made his reasonings are clear." I explained.
"Are you sure?" He asked looking for anything in my expression that said I needed help.
"Trust me, this ends today." I said strongly.
"Good luck." He said as he turned to leave. I stopped for the moment feeling grateful for the support. If Harry were here, he wouldn't leave. He would try and to stay and fight. But he wasn't. And I needed to do this.
