Chapter 13:
(Harry's POV)
As soon as our eye's met, I couldn't think of anything else. The smell of her overpowering my senses, her eyes locking with mine, the familiarness of her made me want to hold on to her and never let her go.
"Who is she Zayn?" I asked staying at the door.
"She was someone we used to know." He answered sheepishly.
"Zayn." Louis warned.
"Why are you keeping me from her?" I asked, my frustration growing.
"That's not what we're doing." Zayn replied again clearly lying.
"Well we're not being honest with him." Louis interjected.
"Louis." Zayn warned. I shook my head and decided to take this into my own hands and go and find out. As I walked past Zayn, he grabbed my arm to stop me.
"Harry don't." Zayn said. I looked at the grip on my arm and then at Zayn. I could see his worry was growing as he let go of me.
"What are you keeping from me?" I demanded.
"We wish we could tell you Harry we really do but there is magic involved and it's stopping us. Hopefully Liam gets somewhere and can help answer all your questions. In the meantime, stay here. Please." Louis said getting between me and Zayn. I shook my head trying to rid my nose of her witch blood scent but it lingered like my body didn't want to let it go.
Everything about her was like a ghost from my past life had walked through the front door. I knew from her reaction and the guys that I knew her but I didn't know why I didn't. And why this was being kept from me. Liam seemed to hold the answers and if she can help me if magic is involved, I wouldn't be walking around in a fog and I can go back to normal.
"Why do I feel like I know her?" I asked. Louis and Zayn both looked at each other and then back at me. They looked as if they were going to tell me but stopped. I shook my head and turned to the living room knowing I'm better waiting in there for Liam and the witch.

(Ellie's POV)
"What the hell is going on?" I asked. I was so confused. Harry was acting like he didn't know who I was. What had happened? Why did Liam remember me? I needed information and I needed it quickly. I was so pleased to see them at first, to know they were out of the portal and alive but now those feelings were being pushed to the side. Something bigger had happened.
"Look. I don't know how to say this but Harry doesn't know who you are. It was your dad. he completely removed you from Harry's past." He explained. How did this even happen? That's explains why Harry was behaving this way. But why was Liam telling me this? Why haven't they told him?
"What?" I commented in shock. He doesn't remember us? Why would my dad do this? How could he hurt me like this?
"We just escaped the portal. He found us and we were trapped. Harry made a deal to protect us. But we part of that deal was that we can't tell him either. A little part of him remembers you, you saw him trying to put the pieces together in his head and he knows he's forgetting something but Zayn-" He explained further.
"What about Zayn?" I asked. I knew Zayn's problems were deeper than his ignorance in the past led on. He never liked me. He didn't like how I was a witch and he certainly resented Harry for it.
"He's trying to keep you a mystery. He doesn't want Harry to remember." He answered putting his arms on his hips. I rolled my eyes at the thought of Zayn trying to control Harry.
"Why? What has this got to do with him?" I snapped.
"He wants to protect Harry. He wants to protect all of us." He said. There was nothing I could say back to that. He was right. Zayn was right - to a degree. Harry needed protecting. Against my family. Against me.
"Are you okay?" He asked noticing how I got lost in thoughts.
"Not really. It's a lot to process." I sat on the edge of the bed trying to make ends with what I've been told. I knew Zayn felt anger towards me, I could sense it. But I understood his reasoning. What my family and people have done to them just because of me and Harry, I understood his anger. I can also understand why he wants to protect Harry. I could see how torn Liam was. At the position he was put in. He wanted to help his friend and couldn't.
"It is but not for long. You just need to undo the spell on Harry and you'll be back to normal." Liam stated sitting next to me.
"I'm not sure I can do that Liam." I replied looking down at my palms on my lap.
"Sure you can. You're like the strongest witch I know." He answered. As flattering as that was, and I could reverse the magic and fight for us, I didn't want to put Harry through anything else.
"That's not what I meant." I clarified.
"What do you mean then?" He asked.
"If I can protect him this way, by leaving him and letting him forget, he will finally have peace. No more pain or chasing or being threatened. He'll be free." I explained.
"What are you talking about? after all this you're just going to give up?" He stated standing up in frustration.
"I'm not giving up but It's not that black and white. He has a ticket to a new free life." I said standing up.
"Ellie that's not fair." He commented.
"And putting him through - putting you all through hell so we can be together? It just wasn't meant to Liam. I can't keep on doing this knowing the consequences. I know he deserves to know but if I can give him a chance at a free life?." I replied rhetorically.
"I made him a promise Ellie." He said. The look in his eyes was a look I was too familiar with. I'd seen the same look in Harry's. I closed my eyes for a moment and took a deep breath before I said the words I wouldn't be able to take back.
"And you kept it. I'll be the only one to break my promise to him." I said.
"Please think about this Ellie." He said as I walked past him. I knew he was trying to defend and protect his friend but I knew this was for the best.
"Goodbye Liam." I said before I shut the door on him with my magic. I began to walk out into the living room where Harry, Louis and Zayn were stood in deep conversation. Liam followed behind me with his vampire speed.
"Once you go there may be no turning back." Liam said grabbing my elbow stopping me.
"What's going on?" Louis said walking between us. I looked deeply into Liam's hurt eyes, trying to avoid another gaze that was burning into me as I shook off his grip and nodded, the tears filling my eyes.
"Where is she going?" Harry asked, the concern and panic in his voice taking me by surprise. I didn't dare to turn to look at him before I left the room. I could feel his gaze burn into my back like it was setting me on fire as I left the building. Once I was out, the heat stopped. I wouldn't let my tears fall until I was out of the building.
