Chapter 18:

(Harry's POV)

I walked home somehow following a path which seemed familiar to me. I knew it was the witches quarter but for some reason, I was feeling pulled by something else. I needed to sit Liam down and ask him straight, I know he knows more. No more games. As I walked through the town, there were a bunch of people surrounding a portal and my thoughts were pulled from me and transporting me into a memory.

***
As I looked up, I saw a bright light flash across the buildings around me like a shooting star making me sit up. I looked around sharply to see where it had come from when I saw a figure at the end of the street. I stood up to get a better look of the situation. The figure was looking around as if they were being followed. The person practically caught all of my attention when the lingering feeling of a connection became sudden in my blood.  I walked closer to them to have a closer look seeing the same similarities I had seen before. I had seen that long, wavy ash brown hair before and that silhouette somewhere. In fact, I've seen that girl before.

***

The memories came over me like a broken flash of lightning. The shock of having to remember stopping me from walking.

I walked towards the portal and looked around at everyone. Once the witches could sense me, their faces either showed disgust or fear. But the pull of my memory put me in a trance. I wanted to go back into the flashback and carry the memory on. To find out who the mystery girl was. Was that woman I just left the same girl? Surely not, why would my memory not come back when I was with her if it were her? I left the portal when I realised I wasn't going to get any answers around here. I ran back to the apartment in frustration.

"Liam." I called out as I entered the living room. He was sat there with Niall clearly talking about something deeply when I interrupted.

"What do I not know?" I asked.

"The girl. The witch from earlier. Do you really not remember who she is? He asked. Niall was laid with his legs crossed on the footstool and his hands joined on his lap whereas Liam was cleaning on his knees at the end of the sofa facing Niall.

"I know I know her but I don't know who she is to me." I answered crossing my arms.

"We've just been talking about how we can help you remember. We're going to tell you but we're going to try and get you to put the pieces together."

"We'd tell you but we run the risk of the curse killing us."

"Who did this?" I asked

"A powerful witch put a spell on you. Do you remember earlier?" Niall spoke but nothing came to mind. It's strange. I remember coming home but the memories from before seem to be becoming foggier. Where were we? Where we coming home from?

"Come on Harry think. Remember who." Liam commented standing as I felt the pull of the memory engulf me.

***

"Wow. You boys are smart aren't you?" I heard a familiar voice speak. I tried focusing on the figure as it came closer towards us.

"And I was even fooled to think you would stay in there for the rest of eternity, how wrong was I?" He said sarcastically laughing to himself at the end of his comment.

"Ryan?" Louis asked.

"And point to the main man at the back."

***

"Ryan?" I said blinking back into reality.

"Yeah Harry Ryan. You're remembering." Liam said putting a hard on my arm.

"What did Ryan want with us?" I asked a the pain in my head began to grow. The pull from the memory was like a shock to the brain.

"You're memory is still fractured. Think of this like a puzzle." Niall tried to advise.

"This is hurting my head." I commented rubbing my forehead.

"It's worth it." Liam said putting his other hand on my other arm so he was grabbing me.

"Maybe we should give him a break?" Niall spoke up.

"No, Harry think. Remember why you remember that moment." Liam said. The pull back into the memory making me full sick all of a sudden.

***

"I would have protected her." I said

"You and me both know that you put her at more risk." He replied.

"See, I thought the only thing we have been fighting is you." I said back trying to antagonise him.

***

Being torn from each memory created a sharp pain in my head. I had no control of the memories but I felt comfortable in the memory until something, not me, pulled me out of the flashback causing me pain. I sat at the edge of the sofa with my head in the hands.

"Come on Liam. I think that's enough for today." Niall stated standing.

"Why does it hurt?" I asked shrugging him his grip and placing both of my hands on my head as if It were going to protect me from the memories.

"I don't know." Liam replied.

"Maybe it's the magic? You're essentially breaking the strings of the spell." Niall asked standing next to Liam.

Ryan.

***

"Well I'm not going to help you get more power." I replied.

"Then you've got two choices. Let them die or forget." Ryan answered pacing.

"Harry, we'll find a way to get you to remember. I promise -"

***

I was pulled away once again, my memory torn at. My memories were broken moments from one big moment. All the memories I had here with the guys were different from the one I had in the witches quarter. These were Ryan trying to assert his power over us again. We were free from his magic and he came back, angry that we had won against him again. I was one step closer to getting back to her.

Who was she?

"Harry?" Niall asked sounding concerned. I was sat with my hands in my head, feeling sick and in sharp pain. Niall was right. That was enough for today.
